I've given the answer. You're burning the CD wrong. You are using the wrong compatibility mode, which is truncating the files. The problem is not the cdr, but the compatibility mode you are using.

Out of sheer curiosity (and awe at the fact that people have put the diagnosis together but not asking the right questions)... what software are you using to build/burn this CD anyway? IMHO, if you're not using nLite, you're doing it wrong...

Oh indeed, it worked just fine using nLite. I was using Nero.

Now our PC is back to normal, and my family is happy!
