Mail Merge in Office Binder

If you know Office XP, I know you'll be able to help me. I am new to this forum, and I apoligize if this request irks anyone, but I really need help!

Is it possible to perform a mail merge with documents in Office 2000 Binder?

My binder has a form protected Word document with form fields and an excel workbook.

I would like to merge info from excel into the word fields. I can do this when these docs are not in the binder, but WHEN THEY ARE IN THE BINDER, mail merge doesn't seem to be an option.

I would really appreciate a solution!

Thanks!

Try this site on mail merge info

The below listed article has been pasted from the above link.

Microsoft doesn't explain its reasons, but indeed, the Binder feature has been removed in Office XP. You can extract the files contained within a Binder file using a little utility called UnBind. For instructions, and to download UnBind, see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article Q281931, "OFFXP: Error Message When You Try to Open Microsoft Binder File," at http://support.microsoft.com/directory/art...B;EN-US;Q281931.

Note that even in Office 2000, Binder was not part of the default installation. MSKB article Q229410 (http://support.microsoft.com/directory/article.asp?ID=KB;EN-US;Q229410) explains how to install Binder in Office 2000.

if you need more help just post it,

sorry I could not offer more,

The problem could be with the 'BINDER'. Microsoft - in their infinite wisdom - decided to remove the 'binder' feature from XP. You can still use it - but you have to install it from a previous version in order to use it with XP. If you upgraded from Office 2000 it should work --- but a clean install requires you to do a custom install from your Office 2000 CD (select custom install and deselect everything except binder).

Unfortuneately, I don't have Office or Windows XP. I have Office 2000 and Win95, but we will be upgrading to Win2000 in the near future.

I know this is an XP forum, but I thought what better place to go than to those who have "been there, done that"

I hope someone can help me. Thanks!
