dirtwarrior Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Can someone show me how to edit a wim while running xp on my computer. Easier the better
bj-kaiser Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 You'd have to use imagex.exe /mount(rw) or GImageX. (you'll need the Windows AIK for both options, if I'm not mistaken.)
dirtwarrior Posted March 16, 2008 Author Posted March 16, 2008 I am downloading one from MS. It is over a gig.
[TiLT] Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 md c:\mountimagex /mountrw xxx.wim 2 c:\mountthe 2 there says which image in the wim to mount. i can't remember how to list them, but i usually need #2.make your changes, then imagex /unmount /commit c:\mount
LukeSkillz Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 (edited) WIM on XP? Heck, I'd like to be able to edit them on Vista! I found imagex on my recovery disk, but so far if I try to use it, all that happens is the window I'm in closes. I heard the only way to have a plain and simple WIM editor is to be part of a beta testing group at MS, but registrations for it are closed. I also heard that Vista SP2 would include that editor. So it's possible that until that happens and somone ports the program to XP (or makes a similar one) you're out of luck. Edited March 20, 2008 by LukeSkillz
