BDD comes with a number of tools necessary to have a zero touch install. The best way I can explain it is that BDD is a central repository for the tools and documentation required for vista deployment scenarios. Download BDD and you might see what I mean. One of the tools you need is the Windows AIK, which you can reach through the workbench.

you can only do a Zero Touch install (zti) using BDD if you have the following setup

SMS 2003 or better plus the SMS OSD feature pack installed

I've written an 18 Step Zero Touch Guide which will guide you through ALL the steps necessary to do Zero Touch provided that you have a working SMS setup already in place.

Hi,

Thanks for the prompt replies.

I will look into the suggestions.

anyweb, is it possible with bdd + wds? or does it have to be OSD?

it depends on what you want, if you want zero touch (ie: a fully automated install of Vista with no one TOUCHING the actual box at all from start to finish) then you have to use a combination of SMS 2003+sql+wds+bdd 2007

however, if you have some other idea of what zero touch means, then please explain it here

cheers

Hi

my apologies anyweb, i should have clarified it a bit better.

the option i was thinking about is user getting prompted to type in the computer name then the rest is ZTI. what tools would i need. bdd + wds or other?

Thanks
