Brando569 Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 (edited) i have a lightscribe drive that is only a few months old and the lightscribe functionality worked previously until i installed a custom version of XP Pro, thinking that maybe it was the version of windows i installed one that i made and the same thing happend, i went back to the custom version because its faster overall but yet lightscribe still doesnt work. ive installed the lighscribe drivers, all the windows updates, and dot net 1-3 and in the lightscribe settings it still says "lightscribe drive not detected". the custom version doesnt have anything removed btw.does anyone have a solution to this because i would really like this back.thanks Edited February 11, 2008 by Brando569
puntoMX Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 What’s the drive model and brand? What software are you using?
Brando569 Posted February 11, 2008 Author Posted February 11, 2008 its a samsung sh-s203b and i usually use nero 7 but that doesnt matter right now because the lightscribe control panel itself doesnt detect the drive as being a lightscribe drive
puntoMX Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 So, you need to dig deeper then, I’m sure it’s not a hardware problem.I would check your drivers and reinstall your lightscribe software.Moving your topic to the XP forum part as it fits better there .
spacesurfer Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 I have a Samsung lightscribe drive and I never used it until yesterday when I bought lightscribe CD's.I was using Surething CD/DVD Labeler and it didn't recognize the drive as LightScribe (when going to New Project, lightscribe projects show up in the wizard - it wasn't for me).I looked into Nero's help as I use Nero 8 and it said to download the LightScribe program and it gave a link in the help. I downloaded it, installed it, and now Surething CD/Labeler displays it in the project wizard.I burned my first lightscribe yesterday - it's very nice and very well worth it!!So........ you might want to download newest lightscribe software from Nero's site. It's freeee. I'm not sure what the connect is between Nero's lightscribe software and Surething CD/DVD labeler, but that's what got it working without a restart!
Brando569 Posted February 13, 2008 Author Posted February 13, 2008 i installed the latest drivers and it still doesnt work
dougiefresh Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 i installed the latest drivers and it still doesnt work Try this link: http://www.nero.com/enu/support-faq.html?s...&t=Nero%207
Brando569 Posted February 16, 2008 Author Posted February 16, 2008 that doesnt really help at all since the problem isnt with nero :-/
spacesurfer Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 (edited) Did you install the latest drivers or did you install LightScribe host software? You need LightScribe host software installed in order for the drive to be recognized.google search for host software.or go to http://www.lightscribe.com/downloadsection...dex.aspx?id=810 and download the universal software. puntoMX Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 I don’t know, but I think your drive isn’t supporting lightscribe at all...
mannyo Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 I just did a google search and from what I can see the samsung drive is not a lightscribe drive. Have a look at this reviewhttp://www.cdfreaks.com/reviews/Samsung-SH...w/Features.htmlpart way down there is a screen dump from nero infotool, and the lightscribe feature is not shown as supported.
spacesurfer Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 The OP mentioned i have a lightscribe drive that is only a few months old and the lightscribe functionality worked previously until i installed a custom version of XP Pro, which leads us to assume that his drive is LightScribe capable.Hummmm
Brando569 Posted February 25, 2008 Author Posted February 25, 2008 it definitely is a lightscribe drive because i have used the functionality of it to make labels
puntoMX Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 I know the SH-S203N supports Lightscribe...This puzzles me really...
