I just tried nLite on a XP Pro SP2 install. It was clean and simple. But I think I over did something.

The background/outline for my desktop icons (and thier text) are now all "windows default light blue" no matter what color my wallpaper is (on a clean install these are transperent and show the same color as the wallpaper). So my question is this: What did I remove for this not to work anymore? I suspect the "preview wallpaper" option, but I thought it would be easier to ask than to do a new install and find out I was wrong.

You probably removed Windows Fax and Picture Viewer.

If you dont want to re-do your CD, you can convert your wallpaper to BMP and then the icon background should be transparent.

Tweaks: General tab : Visual Effects - Use drop shadows for Icon Labels on desktop / Enable

For now: My Computer/Properties/Advanced tab/Performance/Settings/Visual Effects - check mark on "Use drop shadows for Icon Labels on desktop"
