tachyon2u Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 I had to reinstall WinXP Pro recently. I haven't made any changes to my config from before. I have a Media device I use to stream downloaded TV Shows to my Living room TV that also hadn't changed config. The problem is that now when I browse the network through it I can see all the shared folders but can only see files if they are in WinXp's default "Shared Documents" folder. All other folders I can see but no files appear in them. My media device does give me an error saying that it can't connect to my network. I have tried resharing the folders multiple times. I have compared file sharing permissions on everything and they are all the same. Any ideas why only "Shared Documents" folder is fully accessible? Thank you.
Gimli Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 open my computer, tools>folder options > view tab > bottom of the list > make sure use simple file sharing is uncheckedEnsure guest account is disabledEnsure workgroup name is identicle in both devices after all changes in xp > reboot
