  1. Vista sucks. Period. I know its not helpful, but if you go back to xp - you will be much happier and far more stable
  2. disable that crappy welcome screen make sure simple file sharing is turned off ensure each account has a password try to map to the other machines. a.k.a \\comp1(or ip address)\c$ - and use a known user account with password on the remote machine if that doesn't work we need to go deeper
  3. open my computer, tools>folder options > view tab > bottom of the list > make sure use simple file sharing is unchecked Ensure guest account is disabled Ensure workgroup name is identicle in both devices after all changes in xp > reboot
  4. SO - ISP's are junk. That said ( and most likely agreed by all that they are scum sucking leechs that change TOS's on a whim to make more money and gouge consumers ((im not bitter)) I have a network @ home - wireless - and wired, about 5-10 network nodes give or take on a given day. I need a tool that will monitor WAN activity - but ignore ( or separate LAN activity ) for the whole shabang. Essentially I need to figure out my bandwidth usage for a month as the ISP is going to start charging overages. But their measurement tool sucks and is not accurate in the least Anyone have any suggestions / ideas?
