az0000000
Hello all,After cleaning my computer from worms and virus every time I try to aces drive C or D I get this prompt: asking me to choose the program for viewing. After I pick explorer.exe in windows directory it works and I can explore drive content. Than, if I close the windows and try to explore the drive again I get same prompt. I know its something messed in the registry, I just don't know where to go to fix it.Thanks in advance.Regards.
cluberti
If you download and run process monitor from sysinternals, and then monitor the registry while opening the drive (to give you this dialog box), what reg entries are "not found" or "access denied"? That would be what I would investigate and fix first.
IcemanND
check for an autorun file on the hard drives. delete them if found.
az0000000
Thanks for advices.IcemanND's solution did not help.By the way, I would like to mention that the problem occurs only on partition C while partition E is fine.
lqs_lfzz
Well, I vote for IcemanND. And autorun.inf can be hidden by virus or trojan (attrib +s +r +h autorun.inf)... Use dir/a to see if it exist or not.
cluberti
If it was a registry problem, it would happen on all drives. If it only happens on one partition and not others, I third the previous motion - you have a file on the root of that drive (autorun.inf or otherwise) causing the issue.
