Hi, I'm using vLite 1.1 (fantastic Nuhi!!!!) to reduce Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit. I eliminate about 166 components, including WinSxS (-extreme item). After install, Windows Folder Size is 1.491.303 KB (14.372 Files, 2.652 folders), including this big folders:

1. WinSxS, 334.335 KB (7.374 files - half over Windows folder !!!! -, 1.350 folders)

2. Assembly, 258.906 KB (279 files, 524 folders)

3. Microsoft.NET, 79.973 KB (550 files, 52 folders)

My questions are:

1. Can I delete the Assembly/Microsoft.NET folders ? because I don't use .net app's (except vLite of course :thumbup)

2. If is possible, how about delete registry entries for .NET files ?

3. How reduce more WinSxS folder ? (don't worry, I will don't cry for WU )

Nuhi Thanks for this excelent app. BTW, I'm running vLite in Windows XP SP2 (ultra reduced with nLite) with the Nlite Runtimes 3 + system.xml.dll file (because I hate install .NET framework) and run perfect!!!!!! :sneaky:

1. I believe you can delete Assembly if the only thing you run is vLite. Runtimes needed to run .NET 2 apps and vLite are in the C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727

2. Many can but better not to play with that, it is difficult to fix. Anyway I might add .NET removal in the future so have a little patience, it just sits there anyway.

3. in Winsxs vLite saves needed runtimes for Windows and parts of hotfixes needed for install to pass. It's difficult for me now to know what those hotfixes parts are and so you delete them by hand. Best to leave it as it is, there are plenty of needed folders. I might add post install deletion of those hotfix leftovers, I'm interested in that myself.

Well the problem is that I don't know how use pkgmgr.exe and WAIK (and I don't have these programs). I only used vLite for reducing Vista.
