lokelo
I've setup an unattended install of XP SP2 using Green Machine's method here: http://www.msfn.org/board/GreenMachine-s-Complete-SVCPACKINF-t109040.html ://http://www.msfn.org/board/GreenMach...F-t109040.html ://http://www.msfn.org/board/GreenMach...F-t109040.html ://http://www.msfn.org/board/GreenMach...F-t109040.html .However, the icon for IE7 does not show on the desktop and I can't seem to find out how to do it via the Registry or other. I tried importing these registry keys[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel]"{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}"=dword:00000000"{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103}"=dword:00000000"{208D2C60-3AEA-1069-A2D7-08002B30309D}"=dword:00000000"{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}"=dword:00000000With no luck. I do get the My Documents, My Computer, and My Network Places. Is this the wrong name for IE7? Thanks in advance.
kame
Try using nlite. Just go to reg tweaks > desktop > Internet explorer icon. That worked for me with IE7.
lokelo
I need to accomplish this without using any third party apps to meet the security requirements of my company. Any other idea?
jbm
Could you be using the classic desk top?[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\ClassicStartMenu]"{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}"=dword:00000000
