nelslynn Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 I just purchased an OEM version of XP x64 sp2, and it will not install on my system. I had the XP x64 (no service pack) trial version installed and working great. I couldn't, however, get sp2 to ever update. I thought it was because the OS was a trial version, but maybe it was because of my particular system? With the new XP x64 OEM sp2 version install, I get to the point where my computer reboots for the final step of installation. It immediately boots into a stop error of: 0x0000001e. I spoke with ASUS tech support and they think that with sp2, Microsoft is trying to update a SCSI serial ATA driver that is incompatible with my system, and therefore the stop error. Are there any other options for me to install XP x64?- Can I create an install disk without sp2?- Can I use my OEM product key with the trial version and install XP x64 without sp2?- Can I create an install disk without some of the sp2 driver updates?I'm at a loss. Can anyone help?My system:ASUS K8V Deluxe BIOS-1003AMD Athlon 64 3200+2 gig Kingston pc3200/400 DDRMatrox P750 Millennium P750 (video)Western Digital Raptor 36.7GB on "SATA1" of the VIA - bootSeagate Barracuda 120GB (VIA) on "SATA2" of the VIAENERMAX Whisper 460W Power SupplyDual Boot Windows 2000 sp4 / XP x64 sp2 (trying to install)Thanks.
Kurt_Aust Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 You might be able to put the drives into standard IDE mode in BIOS.Other than that you could try nLite (elsewhere on these forums) and integrate the correct drivers.

His Windows must see the harddisk because otherwise he couldn't install it or get pass section 2 (perparing bootenvoirement)With the new XP x64 OEM sp2 version install, I get to the point where my computer reboots for the final step of installation. The trial cames without SP2 so that's not ant concern of?? And yes, sure it is possible.I'm also use the trial and I'm at day 59/120. Nice OS, hella yes!Second point, no. Yhe eula explicit depends on the trial and this one needs another activation. You could try it, but I can't give any warranty. If your system still fails, try indeed the P-ata emulation of the S-ata controller, yes, he's right, but I personally think it depends on the hardware. Your system is possible defective so test the memory and the CPU thoroughly and overnight. maybe tonight is a good point of start? The same here best boy. My system has also troubles and I'm getting sometimes a blue screen while gaming. Now the front is of the case and it has more breathingroom, looking if it helps.Blue screen at ATTray64.sys. Now I've that crappy CCC installed.Same s*** here
nelslynn Posted January 11, 2008 Author Posted January 11, 2008 Extravert, were able to apply sp2 to your trial XP x64 version?
Extravert Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 (edited) Extravert, were able to apply sp2 to your trial XP x64 version?Yes, without any hazzle at all. It flies and the install is done in a mere 3 minutes here. But this XP is also Nlited, but no updates added and only some drivers and some tweaks. That's the reason I think it has to do with a hardware part.My motherboard has a strange behaviour too. It only works good without the mainboarddriver (version won't matter)Installing a whole service pack on the first session is the ultimate test of your Nlite mission. Maybe you can try it without driverslipstreaming and no. SP2 already slipstreamed like your original media is not seperatable.Your system may not be fine as I may guess. Windows XP with SP2 on original media should always install properly! Always. If setup fails from original media there is a suspect somewhere in your case and now it is time to passes things by.1. Load BIOS defaults2. Download Memtest86+ ISO and do an overnight test3. Download prime95 and let it work for 3 hours at least4. Dump here any error found in the eventviewer. They must be there, I know it for sure. Edited January 12, 2008 by Extravert
bonestonne Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 my Sp2 for XP x64 fails as well...but before it even gets anywhere. it verifies the contests, starts the install wizard, i click "Agree" and then i click next. once i get to where it would start installing the driver, it says that the incorrect *somethingalongthelinesofupdate*.inf file is the incorrect version.i have 64bit drivers installed for my soundcard that work fine, and other software works fine, but the OS will have incredible lag at times when i have multiple windows open, so i want to install Sp2 to see if it helps.any ideas on that one?**my install was also nlited, with a little removed, and drivers added, but no integrated service packs. i've downloaded SP2 twice from the M$ website and have never been successful in installing it. sometimes it even says i have the incorrect OS installed.
