BPoller
Hi there,i wanna build my own Win2k Proffessional NAS-System.For the special usage, i wanna 1) make the os as small as possible2) make it "embedded", so it is a save way to use a CF-Card as "Harddisk"Therefor any tips to limit write-access or possible unneeded files or directories would be perfect.Does anyone know some websites for that topic?I would prefer Win2k Pro as OS, because i have a licece free here. Thanks, B.Poller
jaclaz
I don't think there is a project around about that. A loong time ago I made a 2K weighting around 80 mb (but with no Network support), a list of the files is still here:http://www.msfn.org/board/Reducing-Bartpe-t41208.htmlhttp://www.msfn.org/board/Reducing-Bartpe-...8.html&st=3http://www.msfn.org/board/Reducing-Bartpe-...8.html&st=5Maybe, just maybe, keeping an eye on this (XP related):http://www.boot-land.net/forums/XPSP1-with...0-MB-t3717.htmlcould give you some ideas. However, if you plan to actually use the NAS, it would be better to use a tested solution, like NASlite (COMMERCIAL) or FreeNAS (Open Source), here are a couple related links:http://homepage.ntlworld.com/lou.greyfaulk/index.htmlhttp://nas-central.org/ALL_COMMUNITIES/Col...ommunities.htmljaclaz
