Project: Win-Based NAS (Win2kPro) on CF-Card

Hi there,

i wanna build my own Win2k Proffessional NAS-System.

For the special usage, i wanna

1) make the os as small as possible

2) make it "embedded", so it is a save way to use a CF-Card as "Harddisk"

Therefor any tips to limit write-access or possible unneeded files or directories would be perfect.

Does anyone know some websites for that topic?

I would prefer Win2k Pro as OS, because i have a licece free here.

I don't think there is a project around about that. :unsure:

A loong time ago I made a 2K weighting around 80 mb (but with no Network support), a list of the files is still here:

However, if you plan to actually use the NAS, it would be better to use a tested solution, like NASlite (COMMERCIAL) or FreeNAS (Open Source), here are a couple related links:
