trebor78 Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 I have written several documents in Word from the Office 1997 Suite. I want to burn these documents to some CD's which I would then mail to people who are interested in the subject I have written about. One of these documents/files is about 350 pages in length. My question is this: Some of the people who receive my CD's may not have Word installed on their computers. Will they be able to read the Word documents even though Word is not installed on their computers?Thank you very much for any help.
Kelsenellenelvian Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Depends on the format they are saved as.Open Office will open and read almost all types of word documents. They will have to have something installed though.
sam13484 Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 They can download a free MS Word viewer from Microsoft:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=enIt lets you read, but not edit Word documents.
Kelsenellenelvian Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Oh man I never knew of that one!!!! Thanks alot.
Ponch Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 They can download a free MS Word viewer from MicrosoftHe might as well put the viewer on the cd, that'll save them time.Or OpenOffice... depending who has broadban.
nmX.Memnoch Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 (edited) Double post...see my reply in the other thread. Also, about putting the Word Viewer on the CD, one might want to check the EULA to see if it allows redistribution. If it doesn't, just include a link to the download. Edited December 11, 2007 by nmX.Memnoch
