If i install Framework 3.5 do i need also 2.0 + 3.0

Featured Replies

HI :)

Do i need to install also Framework 2.0 and Framework 3.0 if i install Framework 3.5 ?

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 requires version 3. Version 3 requires version 2. The 3.5 installer therefore includes both Microsoft .NET Framework 2 and 3. Microsoft .NET Framework 1 is not required by either version 2, 3 and 3.5 and is therefore not included in the 3.5 installer. If you use software which requires Microsoft .NET Framework 1, you will therefore need to install it seperately as well. In short, if you want to include all versions of Microsoft .NET Framework, you'll have to install Microsoft .NET Framework 1 and version 3.5.

If you want to include Microsoft .NET Framework in your unattended installation, download RogueSpear's switchless silent installers. You can install both Microsoft .NET Framework 1 and 2 via SVCPACK.INF, so that you can install all software which requires either via SVCPACK.INF as well. You can finally install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 (including version 3) via RunOnceEx.

If you have installed jre 1.6, you don't need to install jre 1.5 1.4 1.3 in most cases...

But for .net Framework, you need all of them installed if you want to run programs based on different .net versions.
