tal ormanda Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 (edited) This has been popping up forever. Recently I have been seeing it everytime I try to install Comodo Firewall Pro.Once it is installed these will pop up on startup EVERY time:I uninstalled autocad, and all registry keys are gone ( used jv16 powertools) I'm lost on how to stop this from coming up. I have no firewall installed now and nothing comes up. But the moment I put comodo on it start up again.I either hit cancel or let the process go then it just goes away. ANNOYING. j7n Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 These MSIs usually leave behind one or more packages in %windir%\Installer. If there is a file mentioning "autocad" in properties, delete it.
tal ormanda Posted December 6, 2007 Author Posted December 6, 2007 Should I search in the installers folder in the WINDOWS folder for autocad and autodesk? I found some things. Should I delete the entire folder? Or the clean out the installers folder?
eyeball Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 re-install autocad and then use windows cleanup utility (free download from MS) to remove it fully, then see if it still happens
tal ormanda Posted December 6, 2007 Author Posted December 6, 2007 (edited) I dont think I have autocad 2007 anymore lol..Now it asks for the acad.msi installation file after I cleared out anything to do with autodesk or autocad from the installers folder: Edited December 6, 2007 by tal ormanda
j7n Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Most files in %windir%\Installer have a hexadecimal number as their name, so you can't search for "autocad" and find the right files. A MSI file should display another property page after you rightclick and choose Properties. There you can see what company or program the specific file belongs to.
tal ormanda Posted December 7, 2007 Author Posted December 7, 2007 I found two of the installer files to have the author of "autodesk" and I deleted them. There must be more still in there I need to find then?
j7n Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 I'm sorry I don't have anymore suggestions, other than running an Unicode search for "AutoCAD" and "AutoDesk" over the registry and the whole Windows directory.
Tarun Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Try this to clean up:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
tal ormanda Posted December 11, 2007 Author Posted December 11, 2007 I will give that a go right now.
