Hellowww,

I want to remove (not disable) the "smart card" service on a vista computer.

I read somewhere that you can make the service with this:

svchost.exe -k Localservice c:\windows\system32\scardsvr.dll

Is this correct?

does anyone know what the options are of svchost?

grtz,

Eric

To delete the service simply run:

sc delete SCardSvr

WARNING: No going back, so backup first if you change your mind. This completely deletes the service.

Open regedit and check permissions on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SCardSvr .

What functionality do you loose when it is deleted?
Not a clue!
Just disable those that you don't use. There may come a day when you need certain functionality and can't use it.
Thats what I would recommand, but that is not what the OP asked for... Edited by war59312
