144 mb floppy drive

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Has anyone made Caleb 144 MB ultra high density

floppy drive work in Vista Home Basic?

This device has an EIDE-interface, and it is recognized

as an IDE device at BIOS level and as LS-120 IDE device

in the Device Manager.

However, the device is not listed at all in the Explorer.

Unfortunately, the Caleb is no longer in business, I think.

Thanks.

I think it’s not supported any more. I’m surprised it sees the LS-120...

Hi,

Thanks for your feedbacks.

Well, I just neglected to take a closer look at

all removable devices list in the explorer along

with my other media card reader/writer.

It just happens that one of these "unnamed"

removable devices is the 144 MB floppy drive.

By the way, when my system starts, this floppy

drive's access light flickers for good 5 or so minutes.

Is this normal with this kind of eide-interfaced floppy drive?

I double checked my cable connection and all that.

Everything looks normal on that end.

No, that’s not normal, normally it will light up when it’s accessed/initialized. Looks more like an error "code" to me...
