hakeem5454 Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 my computer runs for about 30 mins and then shuts down automatically and i have to wait about 10 mins for me to turn it back on and repeat the process..whats goin on?
oldwolf Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Start by checking your temperatures. Sounds like it could be overheating, then you have to wait for it to cool down.Have a look at CPU heat sink and Fan, see if it is clogged with dust.
bonestonne Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 by the looks of your sig, i think your rig is nearing 4-5 years old, and if you haven't cleaned it up inside since you got it, you've got that many years of dust inside.its well worth cleaning, and you'll see a noticeable performance increase. while compressed air is great and all, don't clean out the computer in the house or with a vacuum. there's a static charge to contend with as well as just re-circulating the dust.also check the power supply. dust in there is a major fire hazard.
