PC for my dad.

I need a PC. Any form factor, smaller is better.

I need just the box.

Mobo (built in video), CPU, 1GB ram (at least), HD if mobo needs one (have an old IDE one), case & psu.

I was looking for a dependable value PC. Athlon X2 3800+, & ASUS motherboard. (or equivalent quality)

Also, this has to be able to run Vista.

I've been getting regular emails from TigerDirect lately and they're unloading a lot of "white boxes" for cheap. For instance, today's bare bones deal is $149.99USD - $50USD Rebate = $99.99USD. It has the following:

• AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (2.2GHz) processor
  
• MSI K9N6SGM-V Socket AM2 microATX motherboard
  
• US Modular 512MB PC4200 DDR2 RAM
  
• Cooler Master Centurion 5 Mid-Tower case
  

Add a cheap SATA hard drive and a cheap DVD+/-RW burner and that's a decent system. You will of course want to bump the RAM as well, but that's fairly cheap, too.

I figured it was a US only deal (and I definitely knew the prices were USD), but my point was to check their site.

The fact that it includes Vista Home Premium at that price should be a major attracter for some. Depending on the chipset, you may even be able to replace that Pentium D with a Core 2 Duo later down the road.

But I won't need this anymore. I'll just give my dad my old(er) Athlon XP box which flies with XP and plenty of ram onboard.

I'll put together a new PC for myself.
