vev46
When using my MS Word 2000, I have recently discovered that when I type the word "long" after I hit the space key, it adds the letter "o" and underlines the resulting word (loong) in red, indicating a spelling error. This can be corrected with the spell check feature. This occurs only when "long" is keyed in, rather than copied/pasted. I have not yet found any other words that exhibit the same phenomenon, but that is not to say no others would. I would appreciate any ideas on the cause/fix of this weird problem. tain
What language(s) are you using?Perhaps someone is playing a joke on you. It is possible to add a custom word to your dictionary and have it autocomplete. Some people do this as a joke when a computer is left unattended. Suddenly every time you type "the" you get "teh". Anyway, you can probably use that to fix this problem. Try adding the correct spelling to your custom dictionary.
puntoMX
I thought about it too, but then it would not underline the word again in red.You could indeed try to delete the word "loong" in the custom dictionary, if it’s there...

spacesurfer
Look in your "AutoCorrect" options and see if under "Replace text as you type", long is in the list to be AutoCorrected as loong.
