problem with "windows installer" or ".msi files"

Hi,

i did my unattended vista, but i have a probleme, when i try to install windows live messenger or even my quickcam driver there is this error:

"assembly <Microsoft.VC80.ATL,type="win32",version="8.0.50727.762",publicKeyTok en="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b", processorArchitecture="x86>""

(the "windows installer" is set to manual, so its not the problem)

can someone help me plz :(

im in deep trouble there.

;NOTE: Trouble with .msi files. Do this:

"CMD /C Start /Wait msiexec.exe /I %SystemDrive%\APPS\Jump2reg\Jump2reg.msi /qb"

Bad news, its not working.

its like i dont have jump2reg.msi, it cant find it.

I really dont know what is causing this error, but i really need help, a lot of aplications use .msi, even driver :/

is that something removed by vlite or what ?

any help is welcome.

This may sound like a strange solution, but try moving the order of that particular program up or down your install list.

For instance, let's say I run 5 app installs in unattend mode:

Messenger

MS Money

Acrobat Reader

Office

Winrar

Using this as an example, I've encounter the error you are having. I've had this issue with several apps, Acrobat Reader being one of them (and notoriously so). However, when I moved the order around (and it takes time to get it work!) I find that the error disappears.

Messenger

MS Money

Winrar

Office

Acrobat Reader

or

Winrar

Acrobat Reader

MS Money

Office

Messenger

etc

Try different positions on the install order with the program in question (Jump2reg being yours) and you'll eventually come to a pattern that works.

One "quick" way to find out if this will work for you is to build an unattend with ONLY JUMP2REG and see if it installs properly.

i did the virtual installation of vista, without installing apps, and now its working, i guess one of the apps is messing up the settings in "windows installer", is there a "windows installer cleanup" for vista ? any way to prevent apps of messing "windows installer" settings ?

Adds, modifies, and removes applications provided as a Windows Installer (*.msi) package. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.

but mines at a 3 also, don't disable it.

Depends on Service RpcSs but you have it auto

Don't see any others

The Jump2Reg is one of my programs, what I meant was use that as a guide, just replace the Jump2reg.msi with your *.msi. All my msi install that way no matter the order.

i think one or mroe service(s) are linked to "windows installer" service, i'll virtualy disable evrey service to see which one is the trouble maker. if someone know which one it is :)
