So what's my goal, why do i get this problem?

My goal is making Windows 2000 Installation CD using HFSLIP and nLite in "To Make It More Slimmer"

to make things go smoothly "error free" i use HFSLIP as Slipstreamer for Critical Updates, DX9, Vorck's FDV Fileset and Bugs Bunny's XP Icons

Removing Catalog Files: YES

FDV Fileset Also Contains:

SETUPAPI.DL_

SFC.DL_

SFCFILES.DL_

Log Removed!! Too Long

i dont know if its right to post this topic for using nLite i guess, it cant be help

after finished slipstreaming im now using nlite as 1st reducer

i guess its normal cause it was tampered by FDV Fileset

HFSLIP Version - 1.6.3rc1 build 70916a

HFSLIP Path - D:\HFSLIP\

OS in SOURCESS - 2000 SP4 English

MSIE Version - 2KIE5

Drivers - DRIVER.CAB Updated

HFCLEANUP Detected

CD Install Path - Default

CDTAG - undefined

WARNING - Previously Patched Source Detected

Files in your HFCLEANUP folder:

Too Long! Removed!

Using qEmu as Virtual Machine

Here's What i got

90659202ce5.th.jpg

after installation was finished there was several drivers are not installed because driver signature sorry i forgot to take screen shots..

this only happens when i tried to use HFSLIP again to reduce installation files... cause i also tried the to install nLited installation before using HFSLIP.

my suspect is catalog files was deleted on HFSLIP during deletion of files specially for sp4.cat

apologies for my bad english..

anyhelp will be appreciated

I think we'll need a little more description of what you did. For your case 1, you should include IE5 updates as specified on Tomcat76's dynamic hotfix list. If you are running NLITE on the sourcess folder, be sure to use the files to keep as specified on www.vorck.com. Be careful with bugs' icon pack, it could be buggy with FDV's set (I experienced this at one time so I had to manually recraft some setup files so the icon pack would work). You should take one step at a time, the first goal should be to get a functional 2k source. Once that's done, you can run NLITE on the sourcess folder.

Your second attempt is interesting, it shows that your source is modified somehow (there's exta files and there isn't a ident file in the root of the source folder), and HFSLIP may not function correctly with an adulterated source. You should remedy that before moving trying again. Also, if setup is complaining that some driver is missing, you probably reduced a little too much (read the readme file in the cleanup zip file you used).

This what i did

First use HFSLIP as slipstreamer of DX9 and Critical Updates

why did i use HFSLIP, cause nlite cant integrate DX9 in cab files..

Second i use nlite to reduce files

Third i use HFSLIP again to reduce more files...

now my problem is driver signature... when driver signature are not found, on installation driver signature will prompt "Missing Catalog Files"

http://img215.imageshack.us/my.php?image=90659202ce5.jpg

be sure to use the files to keep as specified on www.vorck.com

i think keep files aren't related to that... cause the error is about catalog files not driver files

Your second attempt is interesting, it shows that your source is modified somehow (there's exta files and there isn't a ident file in the root of the source folder)

its natural thats is modified because it was nlited...

now from what i know catalog files are catalog with digital signatures, meaning when catalog are missing, drivers with digital signature will not be installed like CDROM, USB STORAGE (USBSTOR.SYS)

The answers are in the hfcleanup readme file on how to craft your own reducers. You can delete files by filename only and there is a quasi wildcard feature, but there is no keep capability (unless you modify a reducer to not delete it).

BTW, it's admirable to keep your installation nice and small, but be careful. If you reduce too much, you can't do too much with your machine. I was on that kick for a while, but I soon realized I had to use the thing, which meant I could not be too aggressive. My 2k installation source is around 100 meg with dx9, ie6 core, reg files and codecs and some appreplacements. It installs totally unattended without user intervention in about 15 minutes (OS and applications).
