I'm looking at some fujitsu lifebooks. 1st has turion tl-60 & ati 1150 graphics. 2nd has core2 duo 7300 & x3100 graphics. Both cpus are 2.0ghz, but the intel generates high vista performance scores.

My real question concerns the capabilities of the video. I DO NOT need to play current / next gen 3d video games. I do want to do some autocad and light inventor (2D/3D) drafting. Will one of these video chips be more robust than the other?

I know the 1150 is a revamped x300 and the x3100 is new design (w/DX10?) and the real solution is a dedicated graphics card, but that's not in the budget. has anyone used one or the other in this application?

I would say the Core2duo laptop too, the ATi 1150 doesn’t even come close to the performance of a x300. The x3100 from intel isn’t that bad, but don’t expect to use DirectX 10 with it, they say it supports it, but only when the drivers are ready by next year…

I have to correct ripken204, the x3100 will NOT come close to an x1600pro, you could compare it to a nVidia 7100xx or a x1300xx (not XT)...

Which site!?!?!? Unfortunately there isn't any set of emots for "this thread is useless without links."

Nice list, 499 (x3100) vs. 1821 (ATi x1600) points in 3Dmark06, even the x1300 is 12% faster with 560 points. I guess you overlooked something and I don’t know if this list shows the score with the newest drivers, but not even then an iNTEL x3100 can be compared to an ATi x1600 ;).
