AngelGabriel Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Hello all, I just bought an Ethernet splitter so i can use my laptop and ps3 at the same time. However, now when i connect both of them there is a message that pops up that states there is an IP conflict. I expected this however now my ps3 wont go on the internet and my laptop seems slow once in a blue moon. if anyone knows how i can correct this issue so i can use both my ps3 and laptop w/o a problem i appreciate it.
nitroshift Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Splitter as in switch? That's a no-no! You will need a DHCP enabled router (which most of them are).
AngelGabriel Posted September 5, 2007 Author Posted September 5, 2007 Yea i thought about that however im on a college network so routers for some reason do not work here. Obviously the college did that on purpose, dont know why but theres got to be another way.
Tripredacus Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 I would be helpful if you posted the product name or model number of this "ethernet splitter". Also, just connect your laptop to the college network, and verify that you can connect to the internet. Then see what IP address you have. Then connect it to the "splitter" reboot it and see what IP address you have again. If what you bought was a hub or a switch, you will not be able to access the internet with both the laptop and the Playstation.
