August 30, 200719 yr Hi. I'm wondering what everyone here thinks are the easiest ways to save space. I just finished integrating Bashrat's driver packs and all the current hotfixes, and my CD is 777 MB! Not good. I already removed games and screensavers and things, but I'm wondering what you all feel are the easiest ways to save space. My goal is to have a CD that can automatically install the basics on any computer.
August 30, 200719 yr there's plenty of tools on this site such as nlite and vlite and all those. Seek and ye shall find-gosh
August 31, 200719 yr Using nLite, all drivers except scanners and cameras can be removed to bring it <700mb. . But older printer driver installation gives problems and modems drivers must be present if the drivers wanted to install automatically. So if u want xp not to give problems anytime, the following are the most number of components that can be removed : Accessibility OptionsBriefcaseClipBook ViewerInternet GamesScreensaversAll LanguagesImages and BackgroundsIntel Indeo codecsMedia CenterMouse CursorsMovie MakerMusic SamplesOld CDPlayer and Sound RecorderSpeech SupportTablet PCWindows SoundsClient for Netware NetworksCommunication toolsFrontPage ExtensionsMSN ExplorerNetmeetingSynchronization ManagerWindows Messenger.NET FrameworkDesktop Cleanup WizardDisk CleanupFile and Settings WizardMS XML 2.0Search AssistantTourUser account picturesMessengerFor sounds, wallpapers, themes, cursors, screensaves, i include my own collections.Anyway my xp consumes around 1gb so i use dvd which includes WPI and totally fills the dvd.
