XP Pro S/D in the middle of nowhere

I was on line logged into friendster's site. In a verge of clicking here and there...(within this site) Out of sudden my machine SD.

Failed to start, It flagged as follows:

Verifying DMI Poll Data.............................

Boot from CD :

DISKBOOT FAILURE Insert System disc and press enter.

Please do help me to solve this problem..step by step instruction please.....am just end user.........not expert or what so ever.

mY machine as follows:

AMD Sempron 3000+

Biostar GF6100 AM2 motherboard

Kingston DDR2 667 1GB RAM

Samsung SpinPoint HD080HJ 80GB HDD

LG DVDRW (18X)

Win Xp Pro Sp 2............genuine

You got a hardware problem, you can troubleshoot it but there's a chance the troubleshooting can cause loss of data. If you dont want to lose data you should really have someone look at it.

1) enter BIOS at boot to check wether your hard disk is still properly detected.

2) if it is not, open the case and check both cables (power and signal, double check signal at both end)

3) when it is, if it still doesn't boot normally, boot from a cd or a floppy to check what partitions are showing.

4) report.
