Networking issues

HI teamsters,

I have had trouble trying to get both computers to recognise eachother.

Vista Home Premium desktop and XP Pro laptop.

THe can't even see eachother, I have run the network wizard afew times with no luck.

Any input would be appreciated,

Put both machines in the same IP class, subnet mask and workgroup. Also, on the Vista machine make sure the LAN connection is set to "Private".

EDIT:

How did you connect the 2 machines? Direct connection, through a switch / router, wireless?
