There is no difference. RTM means Released To Manufacturing. From manufacturing, it goes to stores (Retail).

Ya, RTM is Retail.

It is just computer lingo, like x86 is 32bit

RTM and Retail are the same exact build! There are no differences.

It is exactly the same. Bit for bit! Just to be clear!

Retail just means it's sold at a store. That's all! RTM just means that build is the official build of the software.

So Vista RTM and Retail are both Windows Vista build 6000. A pre RTM build would be a lower build number. Such as the beta and RC releases.
