I have both 98 and ME setup discs. The ME setup disc is scratched badly so cant use to install. So is there any way i can convert the 98 install disc to install ME? i.e by replacing files.

I hve SOME files of ME setup on PC

I guess if Windows 98SE can work with ME files so getting Windows 98 files to work on ME will be just like downgrading or rollbacking an upgrade. But each and every file will have to found and replaced. Try to reverse the Windows98SE2ME installer!!!

Windows ME is buggy, you will be better off with Windows 98SE, IMO.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am wondering if you all can help me out. My sons notebook came with windows ME but it has been getting really unstable so he started to do a quickrestore to orginal from the 2 disk set but he was not able to find the second disk and has already exicuted the first disk. Of course there is no turning back an machine is not functional and is only 60 percent done for restoration.

If the Disk you have is not to bad off would it be possible to email the cab files as you can to my gmail address. That would be greatly appreciated if any of you can lend a hand.

Edit : well the big push for the copy of the cabs is over. Found a local computer shop that gave a loaner disk so that I might fix the problem.

Thou this was the first post I have learned alot already from the many threads.
