Sophy Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 I'm not sure I'm in the right forum. I just got a new Dell XPS 410 with Vista Home Premium and I'm getting a blue crash screen. This computer has been out of the box less than a week. I was on chat with a Dell tech who is supposed to specialize in this XPS system for over an hour the other night and quite honestly I didn't get the impression that he really knew what he was talking about. The only suggestion he could make was that I completely reinstall my OS on this brand new computer. I've had a lot of trouble installing programs. I got the blue crash screen a few times throughout those problems but finally got things installed and thought everything was ok. After a couple of days when things seemed to be working fine I tried to install the newest Kodak EasyShare Software which is said to be Vista compatible and really got into a mess. It would not let me install but the bottom line is I tried and then uninstalled and tried again quite a number of times. I made a final uninstall and used Kodak's CLEAR.exe and haven't tried again. Since this mess with Kodak, through my AVG firewall I frequently get this pop up about "Intel Remoting Service" trying to make a connection and if I click to allow this I go to the blue crash screen. If I deny the connection nothing happens and I can go on using my computer. But is this something I need to be allowing? I have an Intel® Core2 CPU 6320 @ 1.86 GHz (whatever all that means). I don't know how many times I asked that Dell technician what this is and if I should definitely be allowing it and never did get an answer. He's supposed to be a specialist for this particular system I don't think he knew the answer. Can anyone help me with this, and does anyone know why I can't seem to install this Kodak software? I disabled my anitvirus, firewall and spyware programs while trying to install. Then I did discover that this comptuter has Windows Defender on it which was running. I don't know if I should have, but I disabled that and I haven't tried again to install Kodak since disabling. I'd appreciate any help I can get.Thank you,Sophy
