XP frozen like a Strawberry Smoothie

I loaded a piece of software for a receipt scanner and I can get my machine to move at all. Any suggestions? or should I just do a fresh install. The software is from neitrecipts

keep tapping F8 after the bios screen, then enter xp in safe mode

as long as you havent rebooted you can use last known good, you can also use safe mode, and of course you can use driver rollback if this is updated software. simply go into device manager, double click on device, and select option for rollback. basic troubleshooting applies
