Which version of DirectX do you have installed? The required function (LockCB) in DDRAW.DLL seems to be available here by me; I have one of the latest Win98-available versions of DirectX 9.0c installed, although DDRAW.DLL is dated 09 July 2004.

There could be something else though. Did you check the game's readme regarding supported OS/hardware?

Yes,it supports Windows 98

Now its starts for 3 secs (black screen it looks like its loading) and then just it exit to the desktop ???

Any idea,because it couldn`t be that i am the only one with this problem ?

maybe the video card drivers are to blame....reinstall or update them

I have done that , and it happens again ... But i can start Max Payne ... Mafia still not ... and Collin Mc Rae crashes ...

My Graphics is ATI 9200,i have downloaded the latest drivers from Ati AMD site

The second error does sound like DirectX is corrupted. Sorry.

Reinstalling Mafia might help... maybe.... U should try it anyway...

Sounds like your video card is taking a crap on you. (It might be dying)

Well i dont think that graphics is dying because i can play normally games onto my XP (who is 2nd boot)

Have you tried the version of DirectX that comes with Soporific's Auto-Patcher98?

Also you might want to take a look at Mdgx's topic with the unofficial updates, there are some updated directx files there...
