Error 1721

Hello.

When I try to install a software, the installation starts and then in the middle of the installation a dialog box (shown in the attached file) pops up. When I click on the OK button the installation resumes and just when the installation is about 100% complete the same dialog box pops up, i click ok, and the installation rolls back. The contents of the same dialog box are also given below:

Error 1721. There is a problem with this Windows Installer

package. A program required for this install to complete could not

be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

Strangely this happens only sometimes but because of this I am unable to install some very important software.

Can someone please help me.

Cause

Some MSI packages may not be properly removed from Add or Remove Programs. Therefore, remnants of corrupted Windows Installer installations still exist and subsequently prevent the proper installation of a product.

Resolution

Use the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. This tool can be used for any MSI program that fails to install or uninstall properly from Add or Remove Programs.
