roger04 Posted October 23, 2003 Posted October 23, 2003 Hi, I just got a new memory Its a Kingston DDR 256MB 266Mhz.Is there anyway to care and maintain my memory from any errors or faultyness? Thanks. BTW could u guys name me some well known and trusted mem manufacturer. Thanks
b0r3d Posted October 23, 2003 Posted October 23, 2003 There isnt really much to do to care for memory. Once its in your PC, you shouldnt really need to touch it.
roger04 Posted October 23, 2003 Author Posted October 23, 2003 Because I had a problem. I never touch it or remove but my mem gave problems to me within 1 year from puchase date. BTW, I got 2 stick now. One is Kingston 256MB DDRAM 266Mhz(new) and the other Kingmax 256MB DDRAM 333Mhz(old). When I put those 2 in, new one on the left, my pc only read as 256MB 266Mhz not 512.This is weird :/ .Why? Hope to get some reply.
un4given1 Posted October 23, 2003 Posted October 23, 2003 you really shouldn't use two sticks of mem that aren't the same speed. Granted that the faster will clock down, but it isn't recommended. If you want better stability you should purchase memory that is the same manufacturer and specs. I run 2 sticks of Nanya CAS 2.0 PC2100 (on 256, other 512). I don't have any issues.
XPerties Posted October 23, 2003 Posted October 23, 2003 I've always stuck with muskin and corsair which give life time warranty's on all their memory. To test for memory faults you have the choice of two programs.1. http://www.MSFN.org/modules.php?modid=2&ac...tion=show&id=62and the latest one which was reviewed by techtv as being excellent. They say this wont be free for much longer so grab it now and store it away:2. http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp
