do you have a NVIDEA video card? if so, there is a service called NVDEA blabla dunno full name, but there is only 1 service like that disable it, then rebuild the icon catch, then reboot, the icons should stay
well, i have asked this allready on another board bu no solution i have a C partition with win98 and D with Win XP but when i deleted the C partition (was a stupid accident) and reinstalled win98 on there, then with recovery consoloe i restored boot.ini but now xp doenst want to boot up, it stays as a black screen

ok, is it somehow possible to replace all the newer system files in server 2003 with the ones from XP i did this on Win98 with ME files... i just dont have a list of the newer files
