  1. It is possiable to rip winpe out of vista.... not sure if this would be legal? I am sure once vist gets closer Winpe will be made more accesiable for everyone. why not use barts pe with BDD scripts?
  2. open your winnt.sif in notepad press "Ctrl + G" enter the line number and it will jump to it.
  3. Looks like you need to have a look at Microsoft Bussiness Desktop Deployment Solutions Accelerator that covers everything you mentioned except that it uses WinPE and not bartsPE (But could use BartsPE) If you are a big company then licensing will not be a problem as Bartspe can not be installled onto a machine with XP allready installed unless you have the proper license. Zero Touch Installation (ZTI) supporting New Computer, Refresh Computer, and Replace Computer scenarios (using SMS 2003 with SP1) • Lite Touch network-based deployment • Isolated users (CD-ROM/DVD–based installs) • Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) of software and services (using BizTalk Server 2004) • Note that ZTP is not required for ZTI, but ZTI is required for ZTP BDD SA This when set up properly is awsome easy to maintian and use. hope that helps. It's all about Total cost of ownership nowadays The download includes sample scripts and models.
  4. Yes there is... This file is protected by the Windows File Protection and will WFP will replace this file if it has been modified or deleted. To check this go to your system32 folder and you will see a sysdm_orignal.cpl file. Have a quick look on google to disable or modify the size think it is currently set to 10mb for XP. FOUND THIS POST hope that helps
  5. Hi joe yeah tried that but.... I set the OEMPreinstall=No and the screen then does not show up. However my $oem$ files are not copied over. Do you think it is my XP Disc? I am using a Corp disc with SP1. Going to try a different XP Disc (Pro non Corp) Like I said everything works like a treat but I just have to press exit on the welcome to windows screen. I will post some screenshots later. As I have dont have many friends (Long Story) I have several GMAIL Invites.
  6. Sorry not auto run but you know when you stick your xp disc into your puter the windows xp screen pops up. I get this screen at about T32 and i haave to press exit then it carrys on fine. sorry for being a biff
  7. I have an unattended CD which works fine except that at about t-30 stage the auto run kicks in and the windows msg box pops up. I have Windows XP SP1 VLM disc, I have the oempreinstall to "Yes" if any one knows how to stop the XP welcome screen popping up let me know
  8. hi, I have completed an winnt.sif file and have OEMPreinstall turned to = "Yes" I have deleted the upgrade for win98 etc to slim the cd down. I have skip OEMwelcome set to = 1 Now my question is when it gets to about T-30 the upgrade wizard pops up if I exit the Msg box the setup carrys on perfect... I am a little confused with this one? I am using a VLM Disc with XP1 and have the $OEM$ floder structure as I may switch to a ris install later.. Any help will be met with thanks! By the way great site this site has saved me hours! well worth a donate $$$
  9. Man u guys are lucky! I got 200 sites slow links Slow network links only just upgraded to 100mb. I got 16 images and 7 different models of PC's (60,000 units) We used to have one image to suit all seven models but recently a new model has had a similar driver to the previous model and conflicts ah good old HP kit! I think in a large Corp RIS is the way to go as like you say its easy to maintain.... ten models down the line I could have loads of images and that is not an option (testing takes about a month so a change in the image is a pain) Its all about TCO nowadays look at M$ pushing Bussiness Desktop Deployment SA with ZTP and ZTD which is not bad if you got a good network. So gents your both right depends what you TCO is and how many User's you have and what company it is For me my life is hell! By the way great site!
  10. I see this proble somewhere on th net can't remeber where.... However the guy actuall said he solved this problem by making it a dymanic disk first then converting it back. I have not tested this yet as I am still on the first part of WinPE. If you get this working by the way could you let me know as we deal in HP Servers as well Dan
