right ok so underclocking is out the question unless i buy a new cpu!!! so moving on to "can i use a mobile cpu (Mobile Athlon64) on my current mobo???"

my motherboard wont let me change voltage... just incase your wondering its an asrock K8NF4G edit: because my mobo is s754, could i change the processor to maybe a mobile athlon64 or even a turion64??????

ok ill try it and post back in a while edit: i tryed it it doesnt seem to affect it at all, maybe it does only just work with notebooks

You don't need to adjust it, it's automatic. ahhh thats makes sense is there any way i can view its settings

I don't believe AMD CPUs support this feature...and the only Intel CPUs that do are the P4-M, the P-M and probably Core Duo (haven't had the chance to check one of them yet). I would just leave it at the default clock speed. You never know when you may want to tap into that extra power at some point...and having to reboot just to do that would be a pain in the rear... o right im sure i read somewere amd have there version of "speedstep" i already have this installed from an article i read somewere but i cant see on how to get it to work, it just seems to be a driver of some sort, i cant find any additional software which was installed!!!

Ive read through everything and i kinda explained it wrong, i have no problem leaving it as it is.. but its always on, doesnt genarate to much heat, its using a Zalamn 7700 cu, i also have an exhaust fan as well so its stays cool, like i said before this is hooked up to my Tv downstairs and i just watch films of it and things like that pictures mp3's that sort of thing.. it doesnt require much proceesor power to send these over the wireless connection, so if i underclock it, would just be more effiencent... but what im gettin at alos is if the power is required it will automatically go to its stanard clock speed... a lil like my dell laptop it has a 3.2 ghz p4 processor init but maximum it runs at is 2.6ghz coz it never needed all the power!! hopefully that makes more sense edit: i was just playing around with my bios settings and discovered something wierd maybe its me or .... if you look on the image below it shows my core voltage as 2.8v but in the bios it says 1.4 any ideas any one

Just an update i brought the SilenX 11dBa fan ANYONE WHO WANTS A QUITE EXHAUST FAN BUY ONE OF THESE... AMAZING TOTALLY AMAZING!!!

is there anyway i can underclock the processor, it is used like a server system and is connected to my big tv downstiars and i only want it to use as much power as neccesary

thanks for that is makes an interesting read, also during my searches on Goolge.. i came acroos this SilenX 11dBa now this is a seriously quite fan, i was wondering if there is anyone out there who has one of these, if they would post about it.. things such as tempertures readings and noise levels during the night weather its durable and worth the money Much Appritiate It Thanks

i have an Aspire X - QPACK, case this is an absolutly amazing case for the price. the problem i have is when i brought the case it came with an exhuast fan, which is noisy as hell, im running an Athlon64 3700+ in this case, so the exhaust fan is required i mean it is cooled directly with an zalman 7700cu cooler, so that part is quite. so i was wondering can anyone recommend a exhaust fan which is next to silent... money is not an object seeing as i have already spend 800+ on this build Thanks

i bought a cable 2day from my local maplin store.. i changed it and exactly the same things.. wiht leads me to believe my screen is fu*ked

@llxx i didnt drop it at all, the story is... i went out sunday at 7:30 am to a family fingy which started early i switched it on in the morning like i normally do, i left utorrent running and msn like i always do.. i returned home around 8ish pm and the screen waas complety white with black smudges in random places and i rectangle through the middle, i rebooted it and again it was the same i normally leave my laptop on days on end its nevar done this before

everything appears white on the screen then after a few seconds i can see 4 or 5 red/blue lines going down my screen. external display works any ideas any1

you no the double dpi tweak coul it be a problem for laptops because my laptop screen doesnt work anymore
