Tested it without that line in WINNT.SIF, and there wasn't any difference in the installation... Everything stayed the same... My guessing is, that something hapens at the first boot with the resolution settings (I have a small software installation at first boot too). Something that makes the standard resolution back to 640*480 or something ? Somebody can confirm ?
-
The reg keys are used to make the installation running at 1024 My winnt.sif is quite old (for about a year now) so I have kind of forgotten what it means, will search for it, if I don't find anything, I will delete it I will test an installation without those reg keys and see what it does. But if I do that, the instalaltion runs at 640, first boot will also be 640, so I don't think I will see it by this...

Topic title is quite clear... I do not understand why this is .. ? Full installation runs @ 1024, first boot is also 1024, but when I reboot, then the resolution is reverted to 640... quite strange, and quite irritating... Somebody knows what I am doing wrong ? PS: WINNT.SIF: [Display] BitsPerPel=32 Xresolution=1024 Yresolution=768 Vrefresh=60 AutoConfirm=1 HIVESYS.INF: [AddReg] HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VgaSave\Device0","DefaultSettings.BitsPerPel",0x00010001,32 HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VgaSave\Device0","DefaultSettings.XResolution",0x00010001,1024 HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VgaSave\Device0","DefaultSettings.YResolution",0x00010001,768 HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\{23A77BF7-ED96-40EC-AF06-9B1F4867732A}\0000","DefaultSettings.BitsPerPel",0x00010001,32 HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\{23A77BF7-ED96-40EC-AF06-9B1F4867732A}\0000","DefaultSettings.XResolution",0x00010001,1024 HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\{23A77BF7-ED96-40EC-AF06-9B1F4867732A}\0000","DefaultSettings.YResolution",0x00010001,768

Is it really neccesary to install .NET FrameWork 1.1 ? and not just 2.0 ? Don't know for sure, but I think I had some problems by installing only 2.0....

newer version of ZAP is out now, will test that one later this day (or tomorow) Hope this one works! It's typical ZAP to bring out so many new versions (with bugfixes) if a newer version is out EDIT: Didn't work either, I did a CLEAN, mannual install on a CLEAN and Fresh installed XP, but ZAP doesn't seem to work...
-
Thx, but that wasn't the problem. I can install all versions of ZAP, except for 6.5 and newer (the latest 2 versions of ZAP)
-
Tested it, and I can't install any ZAP 6.5.x series :S Did exactly the same with 6.1.744.001 and it works perfect! :S used this switch for both installations (also tested without the config file):
/s /i /noreboot /lickey XXXXXXX.....XX #SourceDrive#\$OEM$\Apps\ZoneAlarm\config.xml
-
removed, wrong topic sorry
-
Noone else managed to install it silently, without that IsntallScript Engine ? also, if you REALLY need it, which should I download ? :S
-
Eh, what do you mean with that .iss file ? I can't see anything of that in your last post... EDIT: Sorry, I must have looked over it! Testing now EDIT2: It worked with the .iss file!! Thank you ! Only thing that didn't work is the registration, but that isn't such a big problem Here's what to do that uders don't have to read all posts: - run the patch setup.exe with the -R (case sensitive) command (....\setup.exe -R) - copy the file 'setup.iss' from your windows location (C:\Windows) to the folder where the setup.exe from the patch is in - then run the patch like this: '....\setup.exe -s' (use -f2"c:\log.log" if you are installing from cd) works perfect!
-
Strange, it didn't work here :S will try to install just XP + ZAP and hope it works!
-
Maybe there is a difference between ZoneAlarm Pro and ZoneAlarm Suite. I know a lot of people were having problems with installing the new ZAP 6.5, then the new version is giving problems too to some users! I reverted again to the latest 6.1 Maybe upgrading it will work, wil test later

- install PS9.0 (/QN) - installing patch - removing/replacing shortcuts registration info is done directly by the installation. Activation isn't done. I didn't know it was possible to unattendedly activate PS. Will test that later on. Hope it works like that! that could be the problem, because I never activated it on my test pc, and I didn't know it was only copying that file you said above EDIT: didn't work...
-
Just tested it without my settings (config.xml) and it seems to be impossible for ZoneAlarm to boot either :s (see edit in last post). Really strange! I will try to install ZoneAlarm manually and see what happens then...
-
Tested, but it doesn't work for me... The installation screen doesn't appear (while it does with al other switches I've tried), but the patch doensn't get installed...
-
Thx, will test it as fast as possible EDIT: Installation works now (it doesn't hang anymore). But I still have the same problem after the installation. ZoneAlarm is copletely installed, but it doesn't boot, and I can't run it. Strange thing is, I can see vsmon.exe (18.416kb) and zlcient.exe (56kb) running. I will try to install without my settings (which I renewed with 6.5) and hope it works. At the time now, every version before 6.5.x works :S

Run Windows Installation from hard drive
Jeroeneke posted a topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Is there any way to run the windows installation from the hard drive ? So making a partition where all the contents from the installation cd are on, and then boot from that partition so the windows installation starts. This would make the update process of your "cd" much more easy and is a good thing if you have enough space (off course you keep a backup on cd ) This idea just came up in me, don't know if it's good or not ... -
Ok. I think they aren't used by ZoneAlarm Pro, correct me if I'm wrong. It's a verry strange thing, I really think the installation is bugged, as some other people had problems before (read it in this dutch site, tweakers.net). I think I'll wait until a newer version arrives, and keep my fingers crossed that it works correctly.

Any solutions yet ? Would really like to make it install silent by one or another way...
