  1. 1st I'd like to thank GreenMachine for all his hard work time and effort he put in to the new version of XPCREATE. :thumbup

2nd Please don't send me private email about your problems and/or questions about the new XPCREATE please post them here so that the authour (GreenMachine) is aware of them this way he can make any necessary changes and help you get it working.

ok now that is out of the way I did try it over the weekend......

    test 1-win2000

    - did not auto make the file folder so used the web site as a referance and created/copied the folders I needed. I did notice that SVC-PRE was not listed but I added it any way.

    - did 1st run all worked well but the hot fix Q818043_W2K_SP5_x86 was missing

both problems are comfermed here - http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=39202

test 2-win2000 :thumbup no problems to report

I am still testing it with XPpro will report latter on that.

  2. Cool.....

but it did not work all it does is open the file. when i close it xpc then con't and skips over the d/l section.

Oh well don't worry about it maybe greenmachine will add an option to the next ver of xpcreate so one can use a local list. (hint hint)

  3. yup everything is ok there. It worked with the one d/l from the net but it will not run using the local list.

    -- 14:45:08 --> UPDATE.TXT/2KA/ENU/XPCTHLST.TXT

    i changed this to:

    DLURL=UPDATE.TXT

so i can use the local list. is this wrong?

  4. @BatTLeZone

Can you run DXDIAG.EXE the first time you boot your fresh 2K install.

I get an error popup windows :

    FRA : dxdiag.exe - point d'entrée introuvable

ENU : dxdiag.exe - Entry Point not Found

FRA : Le point d'entrée de procédure DdEntry1 est introuvable dans la bibliothèque de liaisons dynamique GDI32.DLL

ENU : The procedure entry point DdEntry1 could not be located in the dynamic link library GDI32.dll.

I would like to know if you get this error ?

    Found the solution by googling

The procedure entry point DdEntry1 could not be located in the dynamic link library GDI32.dll.

Extract d3d8thk.w2k from dxnt.cab and copy to %windir%\system32

Then delete d3d8thk.dll from the c:/winnt/system32 folder.

Then rename the d3d8thk.w2k to d3d8thk.dll

Developpers @ M$ are unable to write patching routines that works... :realmad:

Sorry I have been busy and not have been here much. I'll give it a try on next install and let u know.

I thought I would try out the XPCTHLST.TXT list u made with my 2000server for yucks but I keep getting this error and I do have SP4 install already.

    What am I doing wrong??

  5. bit of a stupid question, but how do you download a file from windows update without installing it (for XPCD purposes)?

Each hotfix identified on WindowsUpdate will have a Details link for it. It will take you to the article that talks about the patch. You can download it from there.

what about the driver updates. I tried this and it just takes me to some MS site not to the drivers. With SP1 the driver update were in the temp internet files (after they were d/led). I can not find them at all with SP2.

    Any ideas?? :}

  6. ... IMMO you must provide a link to download cabarc.exe. ...

Are you kidding? Then everyone and their mother would be trying it, and reporting (USER) errors!

In fact, there is no download for CABARC.EXE only, though it is included with many, many Microsoft kits (CABSDK, IEAK, WM Enterprise Deployment, etc.). I figure that those who do not have it probably are not worried about running this from SVCPACK.INF.

Which brings me to your second point. Of course I did not post it until I tested it, and if it would not work in SVCPACK.INF, it is not for me! The reason one sometimes has trouble with MSIEXEC.EXE is not because MSIEXEC.EXE is not "found", but because the *.MSI file must have either the full path specification, or be in the current, working directory. In this case, it is in the current directory, in order to avoid the need for hardcoded paths. Note that MSIEXEC.EXE in NOT included in the final package. CABARC.EXE, on the other hand, IS.

will this work with XPCREATE? also does this update still have to be installed after MP10?

  7. Well the new updates proved to be a big headake for me as well.

I tryied with them all on 1st test run and install locked up.

On 2nd run I removed the odd ones and same result.

So I tried out what GM was doing with the 841356 not in and used 873377 instead and it work great :thumbup

These are the updates that I used and there location:

    Windows2000-KB840987-x86-ENU.EXE - SVC-HF1

    Windows2000-KB841533-x86-ENU.EXE - SVC-HF1

    IE6.0sp1-KB873377-Windows-2000-XP-x86-ENU.exe - SVC-HF1

    JournalViewer1.5_KB886179_ENU.exe - SVC-HF2

    Q317244.exe - SVC-X2M (msxml update)

After WU only reported 841356 to be needed. I am going to though it in now and try again. I'll post my results later.

    EDIT: Update....

Yup 841356 made the install die so I put it runonce for now untill someone has an answer.

  8. Well I have done 5 installs of 2000 on 5 diff systems using the current hot fix list posted on your wed site all seems well but a glich and i am checking now to see if it is my fault or not.

Also MS now has a new rootsupd.exe update as of tues for win2000.

  9. @GM

Hey sorry have been busy and just got here tonight and saw the NEW one :D

I am making a 2000 cd right now and will install on my test machine. I'll let u know how it goes.

Just can't wait to try it. :D

    EDIT:

Looks good so far made ISO with no errors. Off to install it now.

  10. 1-what kind of mb is it

2-looks like one of the SATA the XPC has biult into.

d/l XPCREATE and try making a auto install cd with your OS and your SATA drivers. I made one with win2000 and it work 1st time round. Read through this forum SATA has been talked about quite abit u should be able to find the info u need to do it.
