  1. i tried this same method, but with 1280 by 1024. at first everything is ok... once teh screen flickers twice while installing devices, I still get the blue border to the right and bottom of my billboard.

  2. Upon first boot, I get a found new harware wizard.... cdrom drive. I have used same installation on many machines and always get the same thing. Its no big deal, but its annoying because it happens durring app install via runonceex. Any suggestions how to fix this? I AM NOT INSTALLING AL120 OR DAEMON TOOLS. Found new hardware wizard just appears out of the blue.

  3. I have my billboard set up quite nicely, but when i am installing in a real enviornment (not vmware,) the billboard is smaller than the screen. It sort of runs in the left top corner with a blue border to the right and bottom. It seems as though my billboard is smaller than my default resolution. (1280 by 1024.) Any clues how to fix this?

    my setup.iss is in the Apps folder along with jet audio. How do i specify the path to the setup.iss?

    i know the path should be specified after

    REG ADD %KEY%\000 /V 1 /D "%PP% -S -f1"

    I just have no clue what it is... and it must be the exact location of the iss file. (not %systemroot%, or %cdrom%) I have tried everything... including winrar.sfx. I tried ectracting to temp folder, and then tried everything from "%temp%setup.iss" to trying to name the exact location.

    THIS IS BLOWING MY MIND.

  5. I made something of a frankenstein cd. (same method could be used for runonceex, or whatever method you use for installing switchless installers.

    First I slisptreamed service packs into office 2003, then downloaded all 9 updates and extracted them. I repacked them with wirar .sfx (setting to extract to temp folder, and run the XXX.msp /passive /norestart.)

    I then placed all 9 (repacked) updates into the folder with office.

    My start.cmd is

    I then deleted the original setup.exe, made an au3 script and compiled to Setup.exe

    After installing xp, I just throw this cd in (or mount the image) and let it run.

    Granted, my cd is 680mb, but I actually prefer this method because it takes so long to extract office (using the 7zip switchless installer method.)

  6. Mazin, I know that svcpack.ini is a great way to install a lot of apps. But, until yesterday, this and $OEM$/$1/Install methods were the only ones I would (knew how to) use. The Runoncex method seems so much more logical when installing , i dunno, say 1/2 a dvds worth of (third party) applications.

    I was using RyanVMs WMP10_addon, but I will get working on your method asap. It is somewhat frustrating to have to rebuild my ALMOST perfected installation. But, then again, thats what we do... add monthly updates to our xpcd, update the switchless installers as new releases come out, and then.. KABLAM... Vista will be out. We begin the process all over again... and when its all said and done, it probably would have been easier just to install our apps and updates like any "normal" person. We enjoy planting a seed rather than just buying the fruit.

    I install WMP from SVCPACK and I'm able to delete or add shortcuts from there without problems.

    This sticks to any user account on my machine.

    And then I don't need DEL %0 because a CMD executed from SVCPACK will be deleted by itself.

    do you mind sharing how you do it?

  8. this project has led to much more than I anticipated. I now have a runonceex.cmd installing winamp (stealing the audio file associations from WMP10 :thumbup... my cmdlines.txt integrates reg tweaks, and a few other .cmds.

    I am happy to have learned that svcpack.ini, or $OEM$/$1/Install batch script methods are not the best method for installing many apps. Why copy files to your hard drive, extract them, then install them... when they can be left on the cd for extraction?!?

    However, I am still stuck on the stupid del.cmd (which I have modified to remove other shortcuts)

    Until I come up with a better method for deleting these shortcuts, I am open for further suggestions.

    I have tried calling .cmd file from both guirunonce and command.txt

    I dont understand.... ALL .cmd files work great as long as windows has booted, but they dont work in a preinstall enviornment.

  13. this may be a rediculously stupid question, but whats the easies way to delete the WMP shortcut from start menu/all programs? I am getting ready to test a new install via vmware, and I would like to begin testing now.

  14. I am almost satisfied with my current results. I remove wmp with nlite, install k-lite mega, and the wmp lite browser plugin (both via svcpack.ini).... I just keep running into wmasf.dll and wmidx.dll. seems like everytime I install an app (UltraISO, tmpgenc, etc...) I have to manually put the dlls in the app directory.

    EDIT: These .dll files obviously are being removed with wmp. If i simply put these files in $OEM$/$$/System32, or maybe compressed them to dl_ and put them back into my I386, would this correct my problem?

    I got Windows Media Lite, packed it up and gave it a

    /VERYSILENT /COMPONENTS="browserplugin"

    Who needs WMP.

    EDIT: To save space, I installed wmp lite with FF plugin, used SOF to repack FF. Now, I only need to install my repacked FF durring setup.

  16. I used nlite to remove WPM, I added the K-Lite mega codec pack, and winamp (with audio extensions only.) I love all results except one issue. I cannot play streaming WMV files in my browser.

    For example MOVIE: SNATCH

    The advertisement in the beginning plays fine, but when the wmv video starts, I am prompted to install a plugin (WMP.)

    Now, on to my question. Is there a way to add the latest wmp to my installation, but remove ALL file associations, OR install a LITE version of WMP for the sole purpose of playing WMV files in my browser.

  17. Choose the apps and codecs and tweaks you want installed with k-lite mega codec pack. Its much easier than you think.

    Customize your settings.

    1. Download K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 1.57

    2. Start/run/"LOCATION\klmcodec157.exe" -MakeUnattended

    3. Select components you want installed and configure your personal settings. When wizard finishes, you have three files (klmcodec157.exe, klmcp.bat, klmcp.ini)

    4. Add these files to winrar .sfx archive. Choose extract to temp folder and run klmcp.bat after extraction

    you can run the .sfx you just created from SVCPACK.INF
