Have you tried setting up the user account you use on PC one (the pc you are trying to connect from) on the machines you want to connect to? That usually helps for me .... Interestingly enough, I never thought about blaiming Nlite for these problems.. been so long since I have used a vanilla ver of XP so can't even remember if I had the same problem then...

I have experienced a similar thing.... now my MSN Messenger cannot open IE - to check emails.... Also think it is related to latest windows updates... -
Cool, haven't played with nlite in a few months... Just trying to implement hotfixes on a XPSP2 iso, and get this error: "This hotfix isn't made for this Windows version!" But the hotfix in question "IE6.0sp1-KB918439-Windows-2000-XP-x86-ENU.exe" is for XP32bit.... what gives? Looking in the list of fixes, I could not see that a bug I (and others) have reported before has been fixed: The bug gives a windows login screen with empty username field after boot, if you haven't logged in after 5-10 minuttes... As described here> http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=67093&hl= Gonna test new version a buit, but first impressions are good! Lastly, any plans to make nlite support multiple cpu cores? to speed things up

yeah..wanna use it in my HTPC...keep system disk active (to keep it responsive at all times), but turn off the other disks when they are not active..

Hey all Does anyone know if it's possible to set power management options for individual hdds in XP? (if so, how?) The default Power Management options only lets you set 1 setting for ALL hdds...I need to be able to configure them individually...

Yeah, happens to me as well. Already reported it here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=65786

Integration of NVIDIA's nForce RAID and AHCI drivers
-.-PhanTom-.- replied to Fernando 1's topic in nLite
Well, seeing asI don't have any hdds on IDE channels, installing the default windows pata drivers did not remove the icon....but I bet it will be gone if I do the same for SATA drivers... (and looking at an image file from first install, I see that I somehow managed NOT to install nvidia SATA drivers as well...so they indeed are the cause of that icon appearing) Question then remains if there are any performance/stability gains from using the nvidias hdd drivers at all? Wouldn't want to loose performance or stability just because of a tray icon.... -

Ah yeah, that could be the reason indeed come to think of it....the first time I uninstalled the NVidia IDE drivers after reading posts where people recommended against installing them... Just find it odd that they should have this influence on SATA hdds on SATA controllers. I have no hdds on the IDE channels...only a DVD burner.. -

Ok, mystery solved. Had chosen the wrong Sil3114 driver.... Still gonna experiment with the x16 SATA install... I wanna see if I can recreate the first install that worked where I did NOT get the "Safely remove hardware" icon...will report back if I succeed -

Is it possible, that you did not enable the Sil Controller within BIOS (because you don't use them actually)? In this case it is clear, that the driver has not been installed.CU Fernando yes, I made sure they were enabled in BIOS first... will do another test in a few minuttes -
Integration of NVIDIA's nForce RAID and AHCI drivers

No, if you integrated them correctly. Hmmm just added them as PNP driver.... but maybe there has to be a hdd attached to the controller for XP to iniciate the install of this controller? -
Integration of NVIDIA's nForce RAID and AHCI drivers
-.-PhanTom-.- replied to Fernando 1's topic in nLite
That is totally normal! All devices with hot-plugging capacity are shown in systray as "safely removable hardware".Look here: http://www.planetamd64.com/index.php?showtopic=14090 Fernando Hmm just find it strange that they didn't do this the first time I installed XP on this new machine...can't really see what I did differently, other than I remembered to copy the NVCOI.DLL (from the SATA_IDE subfolder) this time, which apparently is the cause of this behaviour......? Any ide why my Silicon drivers isn't installed properly during setup? -

Ok, did a fresh install again using the X16 method....seemed to work..kinda.. However, Silicon drivers were not installed, and the 3 hdds I have on the non-sillicon SATA controller appear with a "Safely remove hardware" icon in the taskbar....why the hell is that?and how do I get rid of them there...? Hmm and just see that the "disk manager" from Computer Management in Administrative tools is totally gone!!!???...WTF... Thank you for the information. I will check it and correct my guide regarding this point if necessary.CU Fernando EDIT: I checked the nForce driver package 6.82 and found, that there is no NVCOI.DLL within the SATARAID folder. For this reason I did not change the quoted text within my guide (post No 1). Ahh..sorry... stupid of me to post when so tired, hehe Got confused about NVCOI.DLL and idecoi.dll ...ups Will see if I can get your method to work -thnx -
Integration of NVIDIA's nForce RAID and AHCI drivers
-.-PhanTom-.- replied to Fernando 1's topic in nLite
small correction to this part> Users with an nForce4 AMD/Intel SLI X16 mainboard may take the SATARAID subfolder of the new nForce chipset driver package 6.82 (download it from here), but they have to add the NVATA.CAT and the NVCOI.DLL (from the SATA_IDE subfolder) and the NVATABUS.INF (from the LEGACY subfoder of the 6.70 package) prior to the integration. Actually the NVCOI.DLL file is already in the sataraid folder of the 6.82 drivers - same date, same size -
Hmm recently installed ver 2.0 and uninstalled ver 1.1 ... going to windows update it lists 1.1 as important install.... doesn't 2.0 subsistute/superseeds 1.1?

have a problem with Firefox Setup 1.0.7.exe.. Using this in RunOnceEx> REG ADD %KEY%\300 /VE /D "FireFox1.0.7" /f REG ADD %KEY%\300 /V 1 /D "\"%CDROM%\Install\Applications\Firefox\Firefox Setup 1.0.7.exe\" -ms -ira" /f Firefox install ok, but if I got to "Start", "Programs", "Firefox", I have 2 shortcuts to Firefox... second one is called "Firefox (safe mode)" ... any one have any idea why the second one is there?...and how to get rid of ir? (by not just deleting the *.lnk manually afterwards...)

Ok, I started off as a good boy and read the "documentation" at http://wpiw.net/ But frankly, I am not too impressed with it... Maybe it is just me, but I find the part about install folders rather confusing.. Here are step-by-step instructions for adding WPI to your Windows XP Distribution Folder 1. Locate your $oem$\$1\install folder, and extract WPI into this folder. The result should be a new folder $oem$\Install\WPI If your installation path is different, modify it as required. 2. Open WPI (double-click the CMD file), set your options and configure you programs. 3. Test it - for this, enable debug mode in options wizard. All registry entries will be written, but none executed. Check your registry, if the correct keys were written. Manually delete the keys in RunOnceEx afterwards. 4. Disable debug-mode and the options-button. (This is done in the options dialog). 5. Be sure to agree to all associated licenses! This includes all third party licenses. 6. Remove any batch files or installer scripts you used before and that you did not add to WPI, and then add the following lines to your winnt.sif, under your guirunonce section: [GuiRunOnce] %systemdrive%\install\wpi\wpi.cmd Note: If you use a cleanup script, be sure it runs after WPI scripts. 7. Your custom WPI is finished. Use any steps you normally follow to create a slipstreamed, bootable CD image. It is highly recommended that you test your CD Image as much as possible. Simply doubleclick WPI.cmd to open it on your local machine. 8. To test the whole installation process you have 2 options: a spare pc or a virtual machine. ad 1) Why/how does "$oem$\$1\install" become "$oem$\Install" in the same sentense? (and is the capital I in the second of any importance?) I assume that the correct folder, for systemdrive install has to be "$oem$\$1\install" then, since this has to be added to winnt.sif: ([GuiRunOnce] %systemdrive%\install\wpi\wpi.cmd Correct? So, if I want to change WPI to a cdrom installation, how do I do this, apart from changing the winnt.sif line to: [GuiRunOnce] %cdrom%\install\wpi\wpi.cmd In which folder do I place the wpi folder for a cdrom install? And which entries in wpi.cmd (and other config files?) do I change and to what? UPDATE: Hmm maybe I wrote this a ittle too soon... just saw the "Help" link on the page... So...I cannot test the config in my current windows, by launching wpi.cmd) if I want to use %cdrom% install? I can only test it "live" or in a virtual setup? So, check that installa re working using default €systemdrive€ setup, then change to €cdrom€ and test on virtual pc?
