  1. Hi, I have created i386 based installation images in RIS. But, have not followed the default folder structure, I have the folder structure like this E:\RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images\2003\std\<image>\i386 E:\RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images\2003\ent\<image>\i386 E:\RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images\2000\srv\<image>\i386 E:\RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images\2000\adv\<image>\i386 Now, everything is working fine, but one problem When I go to the Active Directory Users and computers--> properties for the RIS server --> Remote install tab --> advanced settings --> images, it is blank. Any guesses? Hope to get answer soon. Thanks in advance. Regards, Viral
  2. Well, first of all, get the correct drivers for the NIC. Copy the drivers into below 2 locations. 1. "Drivers\NIC" 2. Windows installation source for RIS (i386 folder) Restart the BINL (Remote Installation Service). This should work. Reach me on viralpatadiya@gmail.com
  3. Hi All, I have installed an exchange 2003 over windows small business server 2003. The server fqdn name is abc.xyz.local. It is having a global ip. I am having a registered domain name yyy.com. Also have set the mx records for the yyy.com to the ip of the server abc.xyz.local. I configured the user viral on the server abc.xyz.local. In system manager I configured an smtp of @yyy.com and applied the policy. Then I configured the user in outlook. When I send a mail from the users outlook account, it is sending the mails with the user id of viral@yyy.com but when I send mail from an external email id to viral@yyy.com, I am getting a non-delivery report as follows Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: tyest Sent: 11/28/2005 11:25 PM The following recipient(s) could not be reached: viral@yyy.com on 11/28/2005 11:25 PM The e-mail system was unable to deliver the message, but did not report a specific reason. Check the address and try again. If it still fails, contact your system administrator. <abc.xyz.local #5.0.0> Is there any settings which I am missing? Thanks in advance, Regards, Viral Patadiya

  5. Hi All, at my workplace most of the systems are dell. What I want is run a script, detect the system make, OS and download the drivers to the desktop accordingly (assuming that Network card drivers are installed by OS itself and the system is on the network) Here's the script I have written to detect the system make set svc = createobject("wbemscripting.swbemlocator").connectserver(".","root\cimv2") for each comp in svc.execquery("select manufacturer, model from win32_computersystem") sysinfo = "Model=" & comp.model & vbcrlf next wscript.echo sysinfo For example, the output for this script will be Microsoft ® Windows Script Host Version 5.6 Copyright © Microsoft Corporation 1996-2001. All rights reserved. Model=OptiPlex GX280 Let's assume that the OS running is Windows XP Professional SP2. For Dell GX280, only Sound and Video drivers will be missing for the OS Winxp Professional SP2. So, it should detect the OS as Windows XP Professional and download the Video and Sound drivers from the following URL to the desktop. Sound = http://ftp.us.dell.com/audio/R78477.EXE Video = http://ftp.us.dell.com/video/R96000.EXE If the OS running will be Server 2003, then it should also download Intel INF Chipset Utility from http://ftp.us.dell.com/chipset/R79695.EXE Like this, we are having atleast 10-12 catagories of desktop makes. Hope someone will reply to this post. Thanks in advance
  6. Am working in a company with thousands of desktops and daily 30 - 40 formatting and pc rebuild calls are there, the problem is, when our RIS server goes down, we people go crazy as we have to install OS from the cd and then additional softwares from the network share manually, our ris server takes care of all the softwares installation, i.e., OS+Office+Messenger+Antivirus+Firewall client. I am using a network boot disk which i got from http://www.nu2.nu/bootdisk/network Am having 101 NIC dos drivers on the disk. I want to automate the OS as well as the other mentioned software's installation. Any help will be appriciated. I can not mess up with any servers here, so gimme client side solution only. What I want is to just go to user's place start the windows installation and leave the place, everything rest should be installed automatically. Cheers, Viral Patadiya
