  5. I am going to be purchasing a dual 19" setup. I am looking for some recommendations on LCD's that are good for all around use... some gaming... some web viewing... a little bit of everything. I have read alot of reviews on the VX922 and found it to be a superb gaming monitor. Which is great but I need a good all around monitor... Let me know what your thoughts are.. Mark

  7. I have need to disable wallpaper changing while also stopping the users from accessing Active Desktop. Does anyone know if its possible to do both. I have tried to do it but I am finding that when you Disable the Active Desktop it changes the Display - Background screen to the old version and the user again has the ablilty to change the back ground. If you know of a way to satisfy both requirements let me know. Mark
  8. I have read reports that continually resyspreping an image for a new image is bad thing to do and you risk certain problems. I am wondering if anyone has heard this or read it before. If you have... Please pm me. Regards, Mark Donoghue
  9. Ok I have a user that wants to be able to logon to multiple machines at once. We have roaming profiles running in the network and I am trying to understand the results of doing this. I was thinking multiple concurrent logons will cause problems with Profiles corruption, not sure if this is true.. Can anyone tell me the reprecussion of more than 1 concurrent logon of the same user running roaming profiles Thanks for the help Mark
  10. I have a drive that gets mapped to do some table updates on a laptop. Now when I look in my computer it is showing a P drive mapped however you click on the mapping and it comes back and says bad username or password which is not the problem. If you check net use from a command prompt the drive does not exist. Anyone know how to get this to remove from My Computer.... Its a big problem
  11. I have a vpn setup however I am getting the following error from my server. I have checked to make sure all the required ports are open and that appears to be so. I have tried putting the server in the DMZ just to test and that doesn't work either.... Any thoughts? A connection between the VPN server and the VPN client 207.219.101.4 has been established, but the VPN connection cannot be completed. The most common cause for this is that a firewall or router between the VPN server and the VPN client is not configured to allow Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) packets (protocol 47). Verify that the firewalls and routers between your VPN server and the Internet allow GRE packets. Make sure the firewalls and routers on the user's network are also configured to allow GRE packets. If the problem persists, have the user contact the Internet service provider (ISP) to determine whether the ISP might be blocking GRE packets. Problems Solved.... GRE traffic being blocked at other firewall..
  12. Well the boss has made a decision.. He is going to hold off on this little project Thanks for all the assistance and I will keep a copy of the posts.
  13. What information are you looking for nmX.Memnoch? The spliting up is what I want to do but trying to get the boss to understand that is a little harder.
  14. Ok currently in teh domain controller, print server, file server, application server. There is possibility that this is also going to be doing hosting and mail. There are currently 2 users that use it constantly for printing and accessing large databases. The boss wants to start a website and we are currently talking about exchange possibly too. So thats basically it.
  15. I saw that post however that posting does nothing to address any of the hardware requirements I am looking at. I am not interested in putting a bunch of add on cards into a machine to achieve my desired outcome. I believe addon cards = more problems. The real recommendation I am looking for is motherboards. Workstation/Server/ Desktop computer class I don't care its just gotta have Raid 5.
  16. A friend has come to me and asked me to build him a new server. Unfortunantely I have little to no experience in dealing with servers and understanding the different chipsets that are available and what they do and don't support. I will list the hardware I currently have and if someone can recommened a board its greatly appreciated 4x 10k WD 74GB Raptor Hard Drives 1 Dual Head Intel GB Network Adapter Windows Server 2003 Leadtek Video Card (not sure of the specifics) CD Rom I am looking for a new board that has a Hardware RAID solution with RAID 5. I am currently running Raid 0+1. I would like a board that is ATX and something that has onboard video. The big thing is the RAID 5 support. Above anything else the RAID is a must. Any help is appreciated...
  17. Ok I have setup roaming profiles via a guide that I found on here. After setting everything up and such I tried to access the folders as the domain administrator. Now I am getting a message saying "Access Denied" when I try to access the Profiles$ folder. I have checked the security on that folder and made sure that Domain Admins have Full Control. I have even taken this a step further and checked the adviced settings to be sure that the setup is correct. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Forgot to note one thing. The roaming profiles are working perfectly I was just trying to access them to check to make sure the data was storing and because i am an inquisitive person. Regards, Mark
  18. Exactly which ports are you allowing? There are some specific ports to allow.
  19. I have a catalyst 2900XL Cisco switch and would like to know what I have hte ability to do with this. If anyone has any suggestions let me know. Right now its just going to get used to play with the IOS. However if possible I would like to do more with.
  20. Ok thanks for the help everyone. Its working now. It always helps to make sure the files are in the proper locations.
  21. Ok so the GuiRunOnce import worked however the machine is not automatically logging on. It comes up after the reboot and prompts you to logon as the administrator. I logon as administrator and it appears to process the GuiRunOnce key in the registry. After the reboot its back awaiting a logon again however this time instead of waiting for the administrator password its waiting for the user password to be entered.
  22. This is exactly what the deploy.chm file says AutoLogon After the unattended setup is complete you can cause the freshly installed system to automatically log in as the Administrator. Enabling AutoLogon prevents network printers from being installed for a domain user's account. Instead, the system processes the GuiRunOnce key while logged on as Administrator. If you install network printers, AutoLogon should not be enabled. I however require to logon as a user everytime the machine starts. Is there a way I can add something to the GuiRunOnce key to cause this to happen?
  23. I recently created a new image that requires an autologin. I made the appropiate changes as directed online and then syspreped the machine and ghosted it. When I deployed the image to test it. I am being prompted for a user name. Please see below for teh instructions I followed. Start Regedt32.exe and locate the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon 2. Establish your domain name, account name, and password, using the values you would normally type when logging on. You should assign the following values: DefaultDomainName, DefaultUserName, and DefaultPassword. NOTE: The DefaultDomainName and DefaultUserName values may already exist. The DefaultPassword value may not. If it does not, create it. To do so: a. On the Edit menu, click Add Value. b. In the Value Name box, type DefaultPassword. c. In the Data Type box, click REG_SZ. d. Click OK. e. In the String Editor box, type your password. Click OK and save your changes. NOTE: If no DefaultPassword string is specified, Windows automatically changes the value of the AutoAdminLogon key from 1 (true) to 0 (false). This disables the AutoAdminLogon feature. This behavior also occurs if the DefaultPassword string is specified but the password is left blank or null. 3. On the Edit menu, click Add Value. Type AutoAdminLogon in the Value Name box. Click REG_SZ in the Data Type box. Enter 1 in the String box. Save your changes. 4. Quit Regedt32.exe. 5. Shut down Windows and turn off the computer. 6. Restart your computer and Windows 2000. You should be able to log on automatically now. Note that this setting only applies to the first logon. To enforce this setting for subsequent logoffs, the administrator must configure the following setting: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon Value: ForceAutoLogon Type: REG_SZ Data: 1
