is there a reason no patch on windows update?

After I initially load IE then opening a 2nd window is normally instant since the executable is cached, however if google toolbar is installed their is a delay and hd activity during the delay. If I then goto manage addons and disable the "google toolbar helper" IE then loads instantly again and google toolbar seems to remain fully functional. Does any anyone know what "google toolbar helper" actually does? thanks.

used this for some installs of XP on my test partition. requested feeatures. for the unattended I would like to remove the fancy welcome wizard on first bootup, this I removed on my own custom cd although I forgot how. add registered name and location to nlite so doesnt ask for it during gui setup on hidden. ability to add files and folders to cd layout. make it so the original xp file location remains unmodified since 2nd time I ran nlite the startup size is after nlite removed data. ability to specify IE temp folder size to exact figure ability to specify exact connections amount in IE rather then just 10 or normal. ability to default quick launch to on bugs the visual style tweaks all dont get set like animated menus etc. theme defaults to classic no matter what I choose. lan workgroup doesnt get set when qos disabled in nlite remains enabled by default (just noticed) in regional my location stayed as usa didnt set to uk. whats defenitly cool me able to integrate my sata 2 drivers, the above guy said this is buggy I cant confirm this yet since I see the drive in setup but havent been installing to it yet. been able to add multiple accounts by default able to physically remove services components etc. my image down to approx half size disabling the file protection how do I verify its disabled? thanks

ok an update to this going back to windows update speeds it up a lot but seems doesnt completely fix it. On a pwoerful pc its not as bad but on a amd 900mhz its still a looooong wait waiting for windows update to load and for updates to install. This is a very stupid bug to leave unpatched and I cant believe ms have not had reports about it. If googling this many people are blaming it on viruses and spyware.

very interesting I was about to post about this problem. I have auto updates disabled but when updating I get the same problem, it pauses for a while on 100% cpu usage and process explorer (sysinternals) shows its the svchost.exe for auto updates using the cpu. When it downloads the files its normal but then their is another 100%/delay before each update is installed. My pc is a amd64. On a amd 900 and p3 500 its much worse taking about 10-20 minutes.

Hi all, I currently leave WMP9 on on my install cd and integrated all the wmp patches including the new wmp10 one using /integrate. Since then my wmp on fresh install is corrupt. Is there a way to unintegrate one hotfix? Alternatively would integrating wmp10 on top fix this? If I integrate wmp10 do I then need to reintegrate all wmp hotfixes?

why not just run them with /integrate and point to cd dir?

I put 2 files in the $OEM$ dir on the cd. CMDLINES.TXT tweaks.reg contents of CMDLINES.TXT [COMMANDS] "REGEDT32.EXE /S tweaks.reg" tweaks.reg is just in standard reg file format, first few lines like this. yeah I have decided not to replace my file as I rarely use remote desktop to my machine, if there was a patched 2180 file I would replace but I think there is a risk using the old version.

great post dirtyepic yeah I think this is something good not bad, maybe the p2p apps need to change the way they work. I would hope so otherwise we could people not upgrading to sp2 simply because their p2p will slow down.

ok I see, it hasnt affected me tho as I dont use p2p however I think this should be easily adjustable.

for integrated cd can just put this in i386 dir and it works?

ok I read the article and its connections per second not total connections its to stop things like viruses that do port scanning.

I am running sp2 and I know there is a new limit for remote desktop but I am not sure what you guys are on about. I am able to have more then 10 connections fine. ok I did do it again once more and it worked perfect, it has cheered me up a lot. 816093 I do have but install in a diff part of my startup seperate from the other hotfixes. I use SP1 not SP1a. also 828750 I removed like you said I should you have that listed with 824145.

828750 is removed I have just tested again and it did fail again so any other idea would be helpful thanks. Also I found out the hard way the new switches dont work, they must come into affect after these updates are installed or something however most of the updates still installed, including the wmp ones, however the following still fail. 825119 824105 823182 824145 There are 2 new failures here but I am going to assume this happened because of the switch mess up and will have to try yet again some time but it wont be right now, the one that is really bugging me right now is 824145. Ok this is what I am doing, rollup patch is slipstreamed rest are run using guirunonce batch file. type1 fixes switches /z /n /u /o 282784 823182 824105 824141 825119 828035 type2 fixes switches /q:a /r:n js56nen.exe 330994 818857 824145 - only 1 here that fails I am going to put back the SP1 version of 824145 before my next attempt

ok done some quick investigating and here is my conclusion 828026 is a wmp update and it gets installed before I install wmp9, I read somewhere on this site about wmp updates need reapplying after a wmp install so I will try that out 824145 is a update for IE6 SP1, I dont know what version IE6 is on a fresh install of XP SP1 but if IE6 is pre SP1 then I would need the IE6 patch not the IE6 SP1 patch I will try this out. 828035 is a fix for the messenger service, which I think I disable on install if this is the case then this may explain why the update did not install.

824145 update doesnt install properly, I added it as a type 2 hotfix but after the install it shows on windows update and doesnt show in qfecheck. 828035 also doesnt work for me (type 1) 819639 shows up but not on this thread I think 828026 also didnt work (type 1) IF I run with /? why do I get different switches to what are shown here? Note I did have type1 and type2 hotfixes that worked fine and I get no errors during installation so I have no idea why these 3 updates didn't work.
