  1. the ISO with the dev tools is locked and can't be used to upgrade. Use the 64Bit version without the tools.
  2. update the C-Media USB Audio WDM Driver to fix it.
  3. Since today we can download the Developer Preview from here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/apps/br229516 Can we have a forum here where we can talk about the Windows Developer Preview?
  4. ok, thanks for this very useful information
  5. With this Custom Support Agreement (CSA) you can request updates even if the support for the product ended?
  6. No, it is still NDIS: Total = 1614 for module ndis.sys Elapsed Time, > 1024 usecs AND <= 2048 usecs, 4, or 0.25% Elapsed Time, > 2048 usecs AND <= 4096 usecs, 0, or 0.00% Elapsed Time, > 4096 usecs AND <= 8192 usecs, 5, or 0.31% And this happens when you use Opera. Does it happen with other browsers, too?
  7. don't enable boot logging. Start the normal tracing and next run the xbootmgr command. I read the data with from the Summary XML. The gui doesn't help by hibernation traces so much.
  8. the custom has Vista Sp1 files while the other not. So the CUSTUM version updates Vista Sp1 which is already out of support Why is such an Update made for a product which is out of support? I'm confused.
  9. I downloaded the ISO with the security updates from September and saw 2 updates in the Vista folder: WINDOWS6.0-KB2570947-X64-CUSTOM.MSU WINDOWS6.0-KB2570947-X64.MSU What is this CUSTOM file? I saw that it includes Vista Sp1 files. So does this version fixes the security issue for Vista Sp1 which is out of support? If yes, why releasing a security fix for an Os with is out of support?
  10. ok, it worked. Total = 5287 for module ndis.sys Elapsed Time, > 4096 usecs AND <= 8192 usecs, 13, or 0.25% So ndis.sys causes the spikes. This is network related. Update the athr.sys driver for your Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter And install the Sp1, you use Build 7600.
  11. which xperf version did you use? Some data are missing. Also add -BufferSize 2048 at the first command. Some buffers are not included in the trace. Also install Windows 7 Sp1 + all updates. You're still using Windows7 RTM from 2009 which is now over 2 years old. That is enormous age for a software.
  12. try the Silverlight 5 RC and the Adobe Flash 11 RC, both provide 64Bit support so that you can use a 64Bit Browser.
  13. give me the trace so that I can look at it. Now I watch the Keynote from BUILD. I look at it later.
  14. have you tried to install them with the device manager or with the setup?
  15. no I just want to help users. This makes me happy. The value is still too high: hiberread="72192000" Run Process Monitor, start the logging and now run the xbootmgr command. After Windows resumed, open Process Monitor again, stop the trace and look in the duration column if you see a larger delay. What happens there? Based on IDE\DISKC300-CTFDDAC064MAG______________________0007____\5&816A8CE&0&0.0.0 I would say it runs in IDE mode and not in AHCI. Is this the latest BIOS for your laptop?
  16. What happens if you try to install the original drivers? Are they blocked? You can try to install the drivers in the device manager to bypass the setup. Can you also upload the ETL file?
  17. from what I see the slowdown occurs by writing hiberwrite="55381000" and reading the hibernation file. hiberread="437581000" I see you use a Crucial C300 SSD (C300-CTFDDAC064MAG ATA Device). Do you use the latest firmware? Do you run the SSD in IDE or AHCI mode? If you run in AHCI mode, which AHCI driver do you use? The Intel or the MS driver?
  18. I don't know your Router, so I can't say if this is the cause Can you ask a friend that he can give you his router for some testings? Also try to reset the router, also uninstall the Atheros AR9268 WLAN Card and let Windows reinstall the drivers. Maybe this helps...
  19. what do you want? A decompiler or do you want to know which of your source code math to the Exe you have?
  20. also try older drivers.
  21. try this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/834631 It helped for some Windows 7 users, too.
  22. enable all Offload options and Interrupt moderation in the driver option in device manager. Does it make a difference?
  23. flags should be Professional, Business was for Vista.
  24. ok, so you verified that the Search is the cause. You can start the service again and force a rebuild of the search index. Maybe this helps.
  25. Now Microsoft officially announced the faster boot in the "Building Windows 8" Blog. here you see the comparison between between Windows 7 and Windows 8: This results in a much faster start compared to Windows 7: Watch the demo video here: http://media.ch9.ms/ch9/d60d/520e45c1-8508-4c69-9c25-9f580154d60d/FastBoot_high_ch9.mp4
