  1. Well, there is the DrWatson result, as I was unable to obtain anything with the debudger mentioned in the linked thread above - when I hit reply, the page is loading, then IE crash and then I enter the commandline only to get informed that IExplorer is no longer running. C:\Program Files\Debugging Tools for Windows>cscript adplus.vbs -crash -pn iexplorer -o c:\adplus Microsoft (R) Windows Script Host Version 5.6 Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation 1996-2001. All rights reserved. The following requested processes are not executing: IEXPLORER; Suggestions welcome, if this one is not enought - DrWatson log included in file now
  2. When not selecting to remove the Camera stuff in nLite, I made it. It nicely reduce the size of the install and all seems to be good, but when the installation end formating my C: drive, then it should start to copy the files - but w/o copy one file, it just says that it can't acces them, Enter for retry, F3 to end (reboot) of installation... **** it, it is there nLite that actually work for someone? Or what should I do to make it working?
  3. Welcome to M$ hell, kiddo
  4. Any chances of DX9.0c integration there?
  5. Hi guys. When I tried to make the winblows 2000 SP4 applied nLited and unattended (with medium removal options), then I get this: ...and following message make me sad: That was using nLine 1.3 RC2 ... It says "please report" so I do report this...
  6. It works with the same hosts file fine in FireFox, tough. (many versions tested, right now 1.0.8 - most bug-free, 1.5 and 2.x are horrible...) ... Any interest in the dump of crashing IE? It happen all the times, SP2, SP3, SP4 - clean win, etc.
  7. Recently, perhaps upon update of the forum or something it always crash my IE6 (original) browser under Win2k SP2 (modified) when I hit return and once the reply page load - then it crash the Internet Eplorer 6. It does, however, working nicely with FireFox, Opera, Mozzila, kMelon and so on Hence there is something bad. The usual - clering IE cache, cookies, history and checking for trojans and spyware by Ad-Aware and Spybot with updated databases did not cure a thing. Last time I had this crash (no, it is NOT machine unstability either) it was using google video. I fixed that by specify that the google.com can store cookies w/o problems. Then it run fine, before it crashing the very same way. I tried to specify the msfn.org to can store the cookies, but it is probably some of the adverts, that is going wrong there. I do, however, block them in hosts files (as well, as having SPI FireWall), yet something is done the way that it crash the IE6. Anyone know what it is and will it get fixed, or must I use FireFox for this forum, like it is some kind of nasty page, for witch using FF as browser is necessary in order to not get infected?
  8. Okay, there goes bootlog: And I tried all the registry util (some are very nice and interestingly clean the crap out of my registers, good, thanks!) but no gain - yet. Any ideas?
  9. Thanks for great reply However it looks like my machine is correctly installed and detected as one CPU ASCPI PC... And there is still pretty long wait in the startup w/o any disc activity with not even the /onecpu option after /fastdetect one in boot.ini file cure. So at least I know that the slow boot is not caused by this - but by something else. Maybe 2G ram is a bit too much for my Win2k or what...
  10. Yes, it does. For what is worth, just running the regmon and IE and just starting the capture before clicking on the link, unchecking the requester "ask again" and closing the BSplayer ASAP the movie is playing it generated mere 1.3MB log... Anyway, in zip it is just 100k big http://ax2.old-cans.com/opening_avi_file_with_request.zip As I'm no expert in registers, but to me it looks like that if in the MIME settings the avi (mpg and mpeg) filetypes get properly defined, it should fix this annoing problem. Just injecting by .reg file the need infos. But who is skilled enought to make that?
  11. I was told that during W2k booting onl Opteron they search for second core/cpu, witch add unnecessary wair during boot time. I wonder if anyone tried fix that problem and patch windows 2000 somehow that they did not do that on single core AMD 64 cpu's Is there anyone capable of that?
  12. Anyone know how to set it to stick? I got this recommended: But doing it this way not work: It just say that I got error (NET HELPMSG 3710) when opening the help file - true, deleted all *.hlp already When I just type "net use" it telling me, that new connections will be remembered, but that is what I trying to accomplish... The batch file is amazing, however have it's limits. When the machine in question won't run at the time the batch is executed, no login:pass is remembered...
  13. Luckily, the change IS sticky - ASF is not a problem anymore. After reboot, power off and everything So, let's concentrate on the mpg/mpeg and avi filetypes only And runing regmon is nice idea, but only if the change (open w/o asking) stick at least untill I close the window. It does not get remembered even for next click in same IE window on same link... MPG sample: http://www.gaming-age.com/specials/adspeci.../Nes/tetris.mpg MPEG sample: http://www.cs.hut.fi/~demi/cloth_folding.mpeg AVI sample: http://ax2.old-cans.com/avi_sample.avi
  14. Heheh, been there, done that already looong time ago. No change of behaviour But surprisingly, playing an WMV video in Windows Media Player 9 make change there - IE not any longer asking me about ASF files That narrow the list down to AVI, MPG and MPEG only ... so, what happen, if I play avi and mpg/mpeg files in the Windows Media Player 9 too...? No change yet, but I close all IE windows just to be sure...
  15. ...even when I uncheck the "Ask again" so I expect the choosen action "stick". And yep, I want open these in my BSplayer. Just w/o the **** questions. For start, let's take these video types: ASF AVI WMV MPG MPEG RM RAM MOV From these, the ASF, AVI, MPG and MPEG keep bugging me by asking what to do when I click on them by direct link. IE 6 used, on Win2000, but that should not be much related... Same stuff in XP, IIRC. IIRC I managed to get around the MPG/MPEG problem in XP by unchecking the "confirm opening after download" in filetypes settings. It was unchecked for all these problematic filetypes ASF, AVI, MPG and MPEG yet even checking this option back it did not change nothing. But when unchecked, I would expect opening w/o asking. Why IE 6 (not any updates used) keep bugging me?! Anyone got a clue how to KILL THAT?
  16. I keep wondering why doing that with registers, when clean and easy way exist right in windows...
  17. Oh, the solution for empty pass was kind of simple: : Still, can't W2k really remember these infos? And even SP3? And if SP3 do, what about a borrow the dll file(s) responsible from them and use them? After all, my server run Win2kSP3 and it DOES remember these login stuff, even on the request are not the XP-like remember check... ...
  18. Looks like using batch file with: ...do the trick, but what I can use in case the machine has just empty pass? I tried: ...but it just asked me to specify a pass... Any help with this one, or perhaps an explaination why I seems to remember these logins was saved in SP3? ¨ Other than that, the batch file is kinda easy. I just added it up into the "Run at start" Startup menu folder and with details set in the icon to run as minimized and as workaround it seems to be pretty easy to do and working well But I seems to remember that my Win2k SP3 remembered passwords to other computers - oh, wait, we might used just logins with empty passwords at the time? But clearly ti remember that - maybe I used account trodas and same trodas accounts are on network drivers? Nah, my bro and sis machines has not trodas logins, or perhaps we create them? I don't remember now.
  19. I use a local network based on one router and two 8 port switches, total 10 computers connected. Recently after some useless experiments with WinXP on my main machine I get back to Win2k SP2 and each time I access another network machine drive it ask me for a password! After typing it in, it get remembered, tough - but only until next reboot...! Could anyone tell me, witch services/settings/dll's could affect that, please? I run a HIGHLY optimized these XP machines services, but the Win2k SP2 machin machine has not yet get optimized services or anything.... Please help
  20. So, the best results I got using the patcher ( http://www.netcult.ch/elmue/ElmueSoft-en.htm ) - it actually works (unless you open the My Pictures dir comming from my computer folder, then it show still the cursed thumbnails) yet I had to get a english version of the cursed comdlg32.dll file. And what it worser, it insist on DETAILS view, while I desperately want LIST view. Autor says he don't want add LIST view option, tough... A big difference for me, but W2k solved that. By by, XP crap... So, in the end, I just installed Win2k back and enjoy GREAT operation system now Problem solved. Rest in peace, XP.
  21. Nice idea! Unfortunately there is no desktop.ini file on my whole D: drive. Hmm. What then about the original location of "My Pictures" in C:? Bingo. But what to do with this?! Anyway, for english users, there is patch to the comdlg32.dll file that help!!! Enjoy this nice patch! http://www.netcult.ch/elmue/ElmueSoft-en.htm Sadly that not help me...
  22. I wonder, guys, if anyone ever find a way how to patch IE6 (more likely any of the dll's it use?) so one can specify (in the patch) the default directory what IE will open when saving pictures. The goal is, of couse, getting rid of the default open "My Pictures" system directory as system directories have certain untweakable problems Anyone?
