  1. I'm gonna give up on this one. It's too time consuming. I added the empty SFC_OS.DLL from FDV's site but I'm still getting the warnings. It's the "not signed with Authenticode technology" and the "not passed Windows Logo testing" alerts. This time, I excluded a few more files and was less thorough in modding some others. However, setup is now stuck in an infinite restart loop (from T-13 to T-39). BTW... Would it be possible to add a shortcut to mplayer2.exe when using "MultiMed_WMP6_except_mplayer2exe" while having it removed with "ZZZZZ_TOTAL_REMOVER_MPLAYER.REM"?

  4. Plus, wouldn't it make more sense to do just SET BBIN=BOOT.INI in this line if you leave the variable?I know it looks stupid, but it's there to circumvent uppercase/lowercase problems when handling the bin file. MKISOFS makes a big deal out of it.
  5. HFSLIP is already adding this line for XPSP1: HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\ProtocolDefaults","shell",0x10001,0 It's a mystery why it doesn't get set.

  7. I'm just experimenting with this for fun. I'm sure most problems are my doing so just consider this a blog, hehe. I modded the 2K3 fileset a little to my needs and installed from CD. The first problem is that I'm getting 59 "digital signature" dialogs during driver installation, 1 at T-13 and another 7 after first logon. Most likely I forgot to include the second sfc file. I also had to reboot a second time after installation of Windows completed. The "Click here to Start" balloon pointing at the Start Menu and all the DOS boxes flashing by only occured at the second logon. Now... Every time the system boots, I get an error dialog: Service Control Manager At least one service or driver failed during system startup. Use Event Viewer to examine the event logs for details. In Event Viewer, in the SYSTEM section, I see this: Source: CryptSvc Event ID: 512 Description: The Cryptographic Services service failed to initialize the VSS backup "System Writer" object. Details: Could not open the EventSystem service for query. System error: The specified service does not exist as an installed service. It is immediately followed by this error: Source: Application Popup Event ID: 877 Description: There was error [DATABASE NOT LOADED] processing the driver database. Nice language... There is also an error logged in the APPLICATION section (at every system boot) though I don't know if it's of importance: Source: Userenv Event ID: 1090 Description: Windows couldn't log the RSoP (Resultant Set of Policies) session status. An attempt to connect to the WMI failed. No more RSoP logging will be done for this application of policy. What also happens after every bootup is that a blank popup window appears with the following in its title bar: res://mys.dll/mys.hta. Anyway, I'm going to do some investigating of my own. Hopefully everything can be resolved. I'm now trying to get this IE Hard thing disabled. It's fairly easy to get Active Scripting going on XPSP2 but apparantly not on 2K3. Anyone know what I should do? I searched the forum but "ie hard 2003" returns no results. Here's a site (one of mine) that I'm trying to get to working.
  8. I tried to figure that out myself but it looks someone else might have to help us out. I tried: C:\mbsacli.exe /n Password /wa /nvc /nm /nd >C:\WU.TXT This failed because it requires MBSA to be installed. Then this: C:\mbsacli.exe /xmlout /wa /nvc >C:\WU.TXT This downloads something but then fails with an error message saying that my computer is not on a server or something. At the second attempt, the error message displays immediately.

  10. I think it depends on the files you want to remove. My guess is that you'll *have* to do it when stripping out "protected" files. But don't take my word for it.
  11. Do you have the TXTSETUP.SIF from before it was nLited? I don't want to troubleshoot that....
  12. Yzöwl... The new version of Windows Script 5.6 contains the KB917344 hotfix which is why it's in its name. I'm going to update my lists once the new HFSLIP final is released (it's namely not supported in the current final). The old construct (scripten.exe + KB917344) will still work. The June DX9 update doesn't contain any new binaries for use with HFSLIP. HFSLIP integrates BDANT.CAB/BDAXP.CAB, DXNT.CAB, and the *D3DX9* files.

    I don't think that would help if it happens since HFSLIP_605xx.cmd. Can I have a look at your HFSLIP.CMD file?
  14. If it were up to me I'd even strip XPSP1 "fixes" out of HFSLIP but it's TommyP's script so he'll have to answer that question. I won't be adding new fixes/workarounds for XPSP1 myself, though.
  15. This is a problem. It's no longer freeware but there was a period during which the old page which contained a link to the freeware executable still existed on their server (even though it wasn't linked to their new site anymore).     Is this a new problem? If so, I suspect it's because HFSLIP now has Windows setup checking your C: drive too for the existence of I386\SVCPACK. This was added because someone wanted to run the installation off the C: drive. As a test, you can open HFSLIP.CMD in SOURCESS\I386\SVCPACK and remove the C from the list of letters. Change this: (C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z) to this: (D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z)

  20. Lack of time. I could write up a script to do it but I wouldn't have the time to maintain it. I can barely handle HFSLIP, the hotfix lists on this forum and my hotfix web pages.
  21. I had a look at it some time ago but the documentation is next to non-existing. I couldn't figure out how to do it.
  22. It may work but it may fail too. The worst I got was that WMP10 (and 9) was missing on Windows XP after a repair install but I wouldn't experiment with this if the system is too important.
  23. @Camarade_Tux... 60621a also adds a reg hack for KB916281. If neither this hack nor the one for KB839645 work, I'll remove them. Personally, I doubt the KB916281 hack will work. HFSLIP sets the value to "2", but then the hotfix does this: "%windir%\system32\reg.exe add ""HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP2\KB914798"" /v Installed /t REG_DWORD /d 00000001 /f" This is obviously a MS/HfNetChk screwup. They both want something else.
  24. Strictly speaking, it was possible to make HFSLIP completely unattended ever since HFANSWER.INI was introduced. You need to preset every variable present in that file for which you normally get a prompt, plus add two more variables. I'm not mentioning these variables and I'd prefer them not to be actively discussed here for these reasons: - people need to know what the implications are of using HFSLIP - if you forget to set some variables HFSLIP might fail without you knowing it - it's bad for troubleshooting problems
