  1. Sorry. Yes... LangPack.exe should be placed in the SVCPACK folder after running HFSLIP. For .NET 1.1, I suggest you use my MultiCompiler script. It can make an all-inclusive .NET 1.1 installer. You got two options: 1) MS .NET 1.1 + MS SP1 + KB886903 + langpack.exe 2) RVM's .NET 1.1 + langpack.exe Please follow the instructions closely. The resulting file should be placed in HFSVCPACK before HFSLIP is run.
  2. That'll probably do the trick for the .NET 2.0 installer but not the langpack because Windows will install the langpack first. I suggest you put your .NET 2.0 installer in the HF folder (name it dotnet2.exe). Exclude LangPack.exe for now. Run HFSLIP. When done, edit HFSLIP.CMD by adding the following line: START/WAIT %HFSLIP%\SVCPACK\LangPack.exe This should be entered right below START/WAIT %HFSLIP%\SVCPACK\DOTNET2.EXE.

    Oh man

The current test release dumps it in the SYSTEM32 folder. Do you think HFSLIP should update SUPPORT.CAB too (if it exists)?
  4. I just updated my XP list on this forum.
  5. You are obviously not using the hotfix lists on the HFSLIP forum, but I suggest you wait a day or so until I update mine for the new hotfixes that were released today (yesterday).
  6. No -- The user should be able to enter "InstallRC=1" at any time without restrictions. My point was that the user should be allowed to copy the WINNTUPG folder *after* running HFSLIP. That the WINNTUPG folder is required for the RC to be installed will of course be mentioned on the "Special features" page (the only page that will refer to this functionality).
  7. You are 100% sure you aren't mixing up KB887472 with KB887742, right? You got both in the HF folder? I don't know. I wouldn't mind adding "C" in. TommyP will have to give his consent.
  8. I don't think HFSLIP shouldn't put the line if WINNTUPG is not detected. The user isn't forced to copy the entire CD source prior to running HFSLIP. @Super-Magician: Sorry for the delay but your suggestion regarding MakeNoISO and MAKEISO is implemented in 60613b.

    Oh man

My imaginary girlfriend would strongly object... 60613a is out which fixes things for 2K and 2K3. I've seen no problems for XP by dissecting the hotfixes. @TommyP: I let HFSLIP 60613a put it in SVCPACK for now. We can see later if that binary is really that crucial.
  10. First see if you can get this to work. If you actually get *more* errors I doubt anyone will want to incorporate it into HFSLIP...

    Oh man

There *may* be problems with the KB914389 update for Windows 2003. I'm gonna see if the QFE binary versions can be used.
  12. Tomcat76

    Oh man

@Super Magician: I just took whatever is on the MS article pages. I didn't have time yet to exclude those which were already obsolete. Bummer... Looks like KB911280 for Win2K is not supported. It contains a new binary (netdiag.exe) of which the destination is defined as follows: "destination determined at runtime". I see no other option than to install the hotfix as is from SVCPACK.

    Oh man

BTW... Previously, when running WinXP SP1 with WMP8, you needed the KB911565 update for WMP8 as well as the same update for WMP9. I wonder if MS "fixed" this with KB917734...

    Oh man

I need a lot of HDD space to test HFSLIP, hehe. As far as the sound card is concerned... I need this: - good quality - bass/treble controls in Windows Volume Control Panel - completely separate "line in" control in Windows Volume Control Panel (not some crappy "Analog Mix") Concerning the updates... I was wrong about MS06-021 & MS06-022 being skipped. I checked those earlier today and my browser's cache could've been responsible for them not showing up when I started this thread. Here's a rough draft of what's going to be on my hotfix pages in case you need stuff ASAP. My guess is that HFSLIP will have to be updated for the KB917344 update for Windows 2000 with JScript 5.6. HFSLIP treats it as a Type 1 hotfix. Note: the Malicious Tool was updated. Oh man

This round is gonna take a while to dissect and HFSLIP may have to be updated. FYI... They skipped MS06-021 & MS06-022.
  16. Whow... This thing is coming down at 1590kbps! So what's with all this download manager recommendations on every page you need to weed through before you can get it?
  17. You can enter "Y" in lower case at the "Do you want to overwrite and clean out FDV's INF files with HFCLEANUP files?" prompt with version 60612a.
  18. Did it help? BTW... Are you including LegitCheckControl.cab at the same time? If so, exclude it (it's already part of the WGA Notifications thing).
  19. @Squeeto: I'm really clueless. Are you removing CAT files through HFANSWER.INI? Are you 100% sure that the partition you're running HFSLIP on is 100% error free? Out of curiosity... Does that still do the trick if you install it properly via Start > Settings > Network and Dial-up Connections > Advanced > Dial-up Preferences?
  20. Uh... no. Just do 1 & 2 and you're done. Nothing needs to be extracted from the addon.
  21. Can you think of a smaller script that does all that HFSLIP does? I'll do it once it goes final... Don't worry...
  22. Strange... I could've sworn it was March 28, but now I see there was no "final" released on that day. I set it to March 31...
  23. Check the new test release...
  24. If it works at T-13 then I'll add it... It will be an option in HFANSWER.INI. It doesn't matter whether you use "winnt32" or "winnt32.exe"; the right file will be found...
  25. Don't know if it makes any difference but you can try adding this line into HFSLIP.CMD (right above "EXIT"): %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\wgatray.exe /b It's a line that I had in there during the first test releases KB905474 was supported but someone said it's working without it so I left it out. I can't think of anything else...
