Two suggestions for now... 1) As Super-Magician says, don't slipstream Hebrew hotfixes into an English system 2) If you want support for the latest hotfixes, you need to use the latest test release (which you seem to have but didn't use)

It is only available for SP2. If I'm not mistaken, you can only install IE7 on XP SP2 -- not XP SP1.

The current final doesn't support the MDAC update. You need the latest test release.

That hotfix is slipstreamed. If you're getting an error at T-13 it's more likely coming from an MDAC program update. Do you have MDAC_TYP.EXE in the HF folder? Also... What version of HFSLIP are you using?

You're the second person to report this in two days so I checked it out and you're right-- it's not installed (on WinXP SP2). To be honest, I never really checked the HFSLIP implementation. I also didn't touch that code. I used to use a silent installer a few months ago (which worked) until I noticed a couple of lines in the HFSLIP code indicating that HFSLIP handles it too. So I placed UPHClean-Setup.msi in HF from then on but I can't remember ever checking if it worked. I changed the code that handles UPHClean a bit. The most important change is that it now uses the switches that I was using back then inside the silent installer: /qn /norestart. See HFSLIP_60417-rc3 in the Test releases thread. If this doesn't work, I'm out of ideas. HFSLIP now mimicks what I was doing "manually" in the past (also through SVCPACK) so it just has to work. BTW... You don't need MSICabExtract for UPHClean. It's not being extracted by HFSLIP. Note: UPHClean cannot be installed at T-13 for Windows 2000. I use a silent installer which has Windows install it at first logon. Also, I never tested UPHClean on Windows XP SP1; only SP2.

The hotfix contains version 6.5.1.907. Wait a minute... Setup says "the hotfix is intended for DX8" and you say the hotfix has version 6.4. That can only mean you're using the wrong hotfix. WindowsXP-KB904706-v2-x86-ENU.exe is for DX9 on XPSP2 and DX8 on XPSP1 WindowsXP-KB904706-DX9-x86-ENU.exe is for DX9 on XPSP1 You need the second file.

DX9.0c hasn't been updated since its release so the hotfix still applies. You only get updated SDK stuff and some additional binaries of which HFSLIP only supports the d3dx9 ones.

It will probably come automatically when support is added for Win2K. But I'm only in for a full MDAC replacement and only if it can be done without modded sfc*.dll files.

I haven't tried it on XPSP1 yet. Maybe it suffers the same problem there. Try with a silent installer. My old MultiCompiler tool can make one.

1) I don't know. I don't use any updates that require it. It used to be needed for msxml.msi and msxml6.msi but HFSLIP now extracts them through an admin install. Maybe TommyP knows more.2) I don't know. You said there's a newer version, no? @Camarade_Tux: Can you open SVCPACK.INF in the SOURCESS folder and check the line that installs UPHCLEAN.MSI? Edit.... Aha! I see you got this line in HFSLIP.CMD: OEUPDATE Q823353 That indicates you're using Windows 2000. UPHClean cannot be installed at T-13 on Windows 2000, hence the reason it's not on my 2K update list.

What problem? You said there's a newer version... Now that I got you here... If you only take OS updates into account, the FrontPage Server Extensions update only applies to Windows 2003. For Windows 2000 and Windows XP it only applies to components that don't come stock with these OS's (it's an Office XP update there).

@Camarade_Tux There's no need to REM out that line if you're using that old version of HFSLIP because that line doesn't work anyway. You'll have to REM out the line in a newer version, though, as it works *now*. Alternatively, delete CLASSIC.WM_ from the SOURCE folder. HFSLIP only adds that line if the file exists. In fact, since you're removing WMP with nLite I suggest you remove CLASSIC.WM_ as it's being copied into the Windows folder through TXTSETUP.SIF. I don't think nLite prevents that from happening.

The "IE 5.01SP4 only" part applies to 910620.905915 = IE5.01 & IE6 910620 = IE5.01 912812 = IE5.01 & IE6

Does anyone know if the recent MDAC update covers the old ENU_Q832483_MDAC_x86.EXE?
